Are there any live wallpaper apps that work across Mac/iOS?

Hey! Backdrop dev here. While Backdrop is not on iOS yet, it's something I'd seriously consider building if there was a decent size of the backdrop community that wanted it. Happy to answer any other questions you might have. By the way, do you find that most content on the Android version of Wallpaper Engine is tailored for mobile? Or is it mostly cropped versions of the PC wallpapers?

For Mac, I found this one to be the most reliable, it is called "Dynamic wallpaper", and it is on the appstore. There is a 7-day free trial, and there is a one-time cost for 5.99€. It does hide whatever you have on your desktop though, so I just use finder to find my stuff. It definitely isn't the best one out there, but its worth taking a look.

maybe but icl the exam season right now isint the best also iv heard from some people it doesnt even work lol so i might just have to pay the 100$ apple dev fee and i dont think theres that much interest in the app

afaik there is no 1:1 alternative to wallpaper engine that can sync between iOS and MacOS. I'd go with Wallspace for now though, I just got pro myself.

+1 for Wallspace

Nobody's built a cross-platform one because iOS doesn't let third-party apps set wallpapers, only Apple can. But you can still use your video collection on iOS. intoLive converts clips to Live Photos you can set as wallpapers, and on iOS 18+ you can do it straight from Photos (trim a clip, tap Use as Wallpaper). Works alongside Wallspace on Mac so the same content runs on both devices.

don't think iOS lets you do this, with macOS you have much more control of the operating system (compared to iOS anyway) - btw been using wallspace, it's really really nice!
