Native Mac Finance App Alternatives

Budget Flow I like being able to log transactions on my phone throughout the day, and make more complicated edits or budgeting on a larger screen with my iPad or MacBook.

I built my own that I host on my home server, just connect through IP and saves all my stuff locally doesn’t have to be sent anywhere. So if you’re a self hosted type it’s nice to have. Saved it as a Home Screen app on my phone, feels like a real app, and just in browser works on any of my devices. I could make the repo public if there’s interest, I’ve been slowly patching bugs and it’s tailored to how I like it, so I’m sure it’s not perfect for everyone. There’s also entire pages I’ve half ignored so far that I’ll get to eventually that I started building just so I wouldn’t forget later, it’s in “late beta” I’d say, it works great for everything I need personally.

I am definitely interested in something like this. I use Chronicle now, the old Chronicle Pro, but am starting to have some issues with it since it is not updated, and refuse to subscribe to the new one because I dont need any of the Chronicle cloud stuff

I'm using MoneyWiz, I work with multiple currencies and it shows me stats in my default currency (€), and has upto date exchange rates and it's a one time payment unless I want to connect it to my bank.

I just went to HATE with MoneyWiz. The update destroyed my data. When I launch the new version all I get is a spinning ball and no data.

honestly the thing Chronicle gets right that most “finance apps” miss is that bills and subscriptions are a different problem from budgeting. most alts try to do both and end up worse at both

Similar to Chronicle (which I use) is Subscription Day. It is interesting, but lives as a menu bar item. It handles multi-currency which is unusual. It’s a very clean design. Worth a look for the curious.

I’ve used a ton…. May not feet “Mac native” but I see no need to move away from Copilot. It has helped me a ton.

Chronicle user here. Don’t look for something else if this one is working well. I realized wasting money that chronicle was all I needed. More features doesn’t mean better experience. Trust me.

i too use chronicles from past 3 years offline now trying to switch to another iphone is it possible to pay for one month and continue on another phone without losing data?(haven’t checked the price)

If you use the same Apple ID you won’t lose any data

I have been using Moneyworks for over 16 years (https://cognito.co.nz). I moved from Quicken to Moneyworks when I changed from Windows to Mac. At the time, Quicken's data file format was not compatible with Mac and Windows versions.

I use MoneyMoney and it works amazingly once you configured it a bit.. but I am not sure what banks it supports outside of Germany

The third axis nobody nails in this space is recurring detection. Most apps either make you tag manually or get tripped up by trials and price changes. Whoever ships one that catches "Netflix went from $15 to $17 last month" without you flagging it wins the category for me.

I'm looking for something to replace MS Money - haven't found anything with similar possibilities. I've tried few of them - Money Dance, Money Manager, IExpenseit Pro, Money Pro. Native desktop is critical, mobile companion would be nice.
