BoxReplay v1.1 - F1 screensaver for Mac
Hey everyone — I built Box Replay. a macOS ScreenSaver app which let's you replay the past f1 races on your Mac's lock screen. I have posted this here more than a month back, but unfortunately because of my own stupidity, it got removed since I hadn't provided enough details to ensure my transparency ( Restored after some hours, but lost a lot of visibility I think ). But the people who saw it then was really happy with it also had shared some bugs which have been resolved in v1.1. I'm more than grateful for all the love it recieved. And since it's been more than a month since I last posted, I thought I'll share it again. Problem I'm not sure how to explain this. I guess the problem is not having an F1 race replay screensaver app 🤷♂️ ? Comparison I have not come across a screensaver app which does this. This python race replay project is somewhat similar to what I do, but it is more of a race visualiser than a screensaver. Pricing: $3.99+ I am distributing it with a "Pay what you want" model with a minimum price of 3.99$. Please feel free to pay whatever you feel is reasonable. This is a one-time purchase, includes all future updates Direct download: https://box-replay.kochi.company What it does Give you a list of past F1 races (More will be added in the coming weeks). Can pick any of the races (Or choose randomly) to be your screensaver. Bring an F1-inspired look to your lock screen. (This is a live wallpaper, the cars move) Transparency I’m an independent developer who is on the apple AppStore. I am sharing my other accounts here in case if you'd like to get in touch and ensure full transparency My Developer Portfolio GitHub Apple Developer Account Privacy Policy document for Box Replay Terms of Service for Box Replay My Personal LinkedIn My X Account I’m distributing this via Gumroad since it’s a screensaver rather than a full app. The screensaver has been code signed and notarized by Apple using my developer account, ensuring it meets Apple’s security requirements. Screensavers aren’t supported for distribution through the Mac App Store, so this is the appropriate way to share it.

Wow that seems great !! But I'm wondering like we can see the cars move ? And will there be some options to modify the hud (in the future) ?
Thank you!! Yes it does, the cars do move (you can see a preview on the gumroad page) The HUD will be updated based on the on-going race, but I don't have any options to customize it though. Maybe in the future :)
Looks nice. What about a battery usage?
Thank you! I have been using this for a month now, there wasn’t any significant battery drain for me. Neither did any of the users complain so far.
This is fun. And an aesthetically-focused app points out an interesting detail of the Problem/Comparison/Price framing. It's like asking "what problem does art solve?"
Agreed. And thanks a lot for the kind words. But those sections are required as per the sub rules to ensure more transparency and I guess to control frauds to an extent. (I don't mind that though, r/macapps has one of the most fair rules )
that's amazing!
Second the “cars move” comment. It'll lose me so much time just watching them drive lol, love it.
Very cool. Do you think you could implement this for wallpapers too?
Maybe add more features to this and it could be a great app
Hey u/Ok_Satisfaction9630, If you're customizing your setup and want to run live backgrounds without having your fans ramp up, the secret is finding an engine that is written in **native Swift and Metal** rather than cross-platform web wrappers (which load an entire Chrome browser in the background). A native engine has a couple of huge performance advantages: It automatically pauses active video rendering the millisecond an app window covers the desktop. It uses native Apple framework APIs to render, keeping CPU overhead under 0.1%. I'm the developer of LWPRO, which we built completely in native Swift/Metal to solve the battery drain problem. I've set up a community at r/LiveWallpaperPro to share zero-drain wallpapers and custom setups. Would love to give you a free Lifetime license key to check out the premium setups if you're interested! Feel free to check out the open-source distribution details at: https://rineshbaj.github.io/LiveWallpaperPro-Distribution/
nice but would have been a bit better if the icons were actually cars!
