Reeder 5 is the most polished of the bunch — beautiful typography, fast sync, handles Inoreader/Feedbin/iCloud/etc as the backend so you're not locked in. If you want fully free and open-source, NetNewsWire is genuinely great too. Less feature-dense but rock-solid and very Mac-native. Both are infinitely better than the Feedly web app for everyday reading.
Thanks for your view
The old trusty Net News Wire
What’s the issue with Feedly? (No trolling! Actually interested in knowing!)
I moved to feedly after the Google reader shutdown many moons ago and for me, it just seems slow, and I'm tired of their subscription marketing $7 to $12/month - It's an RSS reader for goodness’s sake 🫣 I'm more than happy to pay for a decent, native, reader. Even a small subscription if it offers killer cloud-based features I just felt it was time to export my opml and move on
Unread. Or Reeder. I tried netnewswire and Raven but always come back to Reeder
I remember reading something about Reeder and Reeder classic a few years back. I need to take a fresh look at it. I totally forgot about Reeder. Thanks for the tip!

No macOS version?
I use Inoreader + Unread, good combo.
Added to my list to check out. Thanks!
Unread, i posted about it in rss subreddit
I never knew there is one for rss. I must check it out. Thanks :)
Obsidian + RSS Dashboard plugin : simple but 100% free and local
I've bumped into this plugin, but never thought about it much at the time. I'm going to have a look. Thanks!
I switched from Reeder (classic) to ReadKit
Never heard of ReadKit. Added to my list. Thanks!
I'm using Reeder at $1 p/m - icloud sync of reading position etc. Nice UI. Somehow that's enough to persuade me that $12 a year is good value :)
At this early stage, Reeder is top-ish of my list
Feedbin!
What are the standout features of feedbin to be willing to part with $5/month? Their website is very sparse in terms of information Thanks for the tip
Browser plugin (Firefox, Chrome-based): https://nodetics.com/feedbro/
Last update in 2024? This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions.
+1 NetNewsWire
NetNewsWire is the answer if you want native + free. It's open source (developed by the original NetNewsWire team that's been doing this since RSS was new), looks and feels like an Apple app, syncs with iCloud, Feedbin, Inoreader, and Feedly itself if you want a soft transition, and has an iOS companion app. Zero subscription, zero cost. Reeder went subscription a while back which kills it for me, but the older Reeder 5 is still around on the App Store if you prefer that UI and find it. Lire is good if you read offline a lot — it caches full article text rather than just headlines, which Feedly's native reader can't. Honest take: NetNewsWire 95% of the time, Lire if you commute on a train without wifi. If you want to migrate without losing your feed list, NetNewsWire reads OPML directly. Export from Feedly settings → Import in NNW → done.
