Random new Mac directory I found on Twitter, some notes
macfolio.com showed up in my feed today. Decent looking site, covers apps, hardware, desk stuff, books. Spent some time on it. Noticed TypoTab is in the catalog. Same person who runs the directory built TypoTab. No "made by us" tag, no disclosure, just sitting in there next to everything else. The Featured section has a small "may include paid promotions" line, and outbound links route through their own shortener with UTM tracking. Is that normal for curation sites now or am I being weird about it?

I would wager it's a lot more common than we'd like. Most product lists or curations I find these days are just paid ads or self-promotion.
Yeah, and the disclosure keeps shrinking. Used to be a sponsored badge or banner ad. Now it's tiny grey text buried in a footer somewhere.

There is no "Sign in with Apple" option either for creating an account. To me, for a Mac-centric site seems to indicate that they are not too serious or just so new they haven't gotten there yet
honestly didn’t even get past the signup screen. no clear reason to have an account on a curation site
in theory...if you wanted to save things or create your own lists. 🤷♂️
You can still browse the site without logging in though, thats only for bookaks and newsletter
I dont see the issue tbh Its clear they aren't trying to hide that they have a promoted listing if they have the "may include paid promotions" line for sections
