Layr - Touch based Clipboard
Hey my people! I’m the developer of Declutr, and I’ve been working on a new app called Layr that I’d love to share with you today! Problem If you are a trackpad-heavy user, most clipboard managers feel built for keyboard workflows. They rely on shortcuts, interrupt your flow, and just don’t feel natural when you are navigating with gestures. Comparison Apps like Paste or Maccy are great, but they are still mostly keyboard-first. Layr is designed differently. With a 4-finger tap, your clipboard appears instantly as an overlay right where your cursor is. No shortcuts, no context switching. Just quick access, fast pasting, and the ability to pin what you use often. Some more functionalities are: • Clipboard history overlay triggered by trackpad gesture or hotkey • Menu bar panel for settings and quick access • Configurable history limit • History per category • App exclusions (apps Layr will never capture from) • Pin-able items • Launch at login • Haptic feedback on paste Pricing Free to try, after that €8.99 lifetime! Elegant approach, I like it
Hey thanks! It’s really much appreciated, enjoy! :)
I like it - site's ok for me btw.
Thanks much appreciated!
Really nice. Have an unrelated question. What made you not put it on appstore?
Good question! Apple does not expose the gesture behavior I need through public App Store APIs but they do provide private APIs for it which I’m using here. These private API’s they do not allow on the app store.
Lovely. I have declutter . Is there any discount for the existing users
Thanks for being such a supporter! Ill hit you up with a code later!
Very interesting approach. I've been looking for some clipboard managers recently and this one seems quite elegant. There is one thing that I immediately saw as good addition (for me at least): scrolling through history on the first view, with gestures. Imagine copying 10 items. You touch trackpad with 4 fingers and you get 5 on the first view. However there is a need for something not presented there. You can either open history view, which is an option now, or use maybe two fingers to scroll through them on the same view. I think this would be nice as there is already half circle, that can just rotate in the direction of scrolling. WDYT?
Great minds think alike! In early prototyping this was actually how I designed it, after using it for a while I actually really wanted a dedicated history view so implemented it how it currently is, but I could enable this option as a setting for user who prefer it that way to enable it. Might think about it for the next update ;) ! Thanks so much for checking it out !
This is cool, what’s the max number of pins that can appear?
Currently 5 but will make customizable soon.
Great app - I already have a license for Declutr and it works great. A discount for Declutr users or a bundle would be awesome.
Ill hit you up later with a promo ;)!
One problem with it being a 4 finger tap activation and not click or other, is that it will trigger sometimes when using 4 finger swipe to change windows.
Love this 😍. Will give it a try!!
Enjoy just added dictation too (todays update) and much more improvements! 💪
love the minimalism of this design
Thanks! Means a lot, enjoy!!
I like the UIUX seems cool, will give it a try
Thank you so much!’ Hope you enjoy it, let me know if u have some feedback!!
Heads up, your site's only being served over HTTP. It's worth sorting HTTPS, even if just to build trust with potential users and demonstrate that you apply best practices.
Site doesn’t work for me? Says error failed. Edit: just saw someone mention the http site, which explains it. https://mhyks.com/assets/Layr-YAZeh11U.dmg on your site throws a 404 too.
This can be easily achieved using BetterTouchTool's floating menu and trackpad shortcut.
That’s fair. BetterTouchTool is a great power-user app! I did not know about this extensive functionality though :). Layr is more focused, it’s built specifically as a gesture-first clipboard manager, with the overlay, history, pinned items, categories, app exclusions, and paste flow working out of the box.
