Telescopo 7: free native Markdown Viewer, now with a Markdown Studio upgrade

Really appreciate that, there are zero trackers or any sort of bloat. We try to keep not only size minimal but resource utilization has been carefully profiled so it does not use much energy, ram, cpu. This is important so Telescopo can always be useful even when you are on battery.

To clarify the licensing terminology, Telescopo uses a perpetual license. Every single purchase has included a perpetual, grandfathered license. Users who paid for early Pro features now have full access to the entire Markdown Studio feature set. Regarding the changelog, the rapid version jumps reflect our development iteration over the last year. We have maintained that development pace ever since. I stand by our commitment to both our free and paid users.

There’s a feature in Telescopo called Δ Live Monitoring that effectively lets you keep your Markdown documents silently reloaded while keeping your specific position in the document. This is useful for scenarios such as Claude, Codex, or even non-AI tools updating a series of Markdown documents that you want to keep open to read. It also works if you make side edits outside of Telescopo, but the beauty of this is that it can seamlessly handle repeated edits by automated tools. I hope that helps to clarify. It sounds simple enough, but it had to be carried developed and well-tested across all major AI coding tools as well as most popular editors on macOS, to best support how they each respectively handle modifications to markdown files plus ensuring the system could keep the position relatively stable even if complex markdown, mermaid diagrams, or latex mathematics were added to the doc.

It’s a local and privacy focused way of engaging with markdown document. I typically use it to give me short summaries or more detailed ones. But it’s also very useful to explain complex topics with context inside of a markdown file.

Telescopo has several ways to be set as the default, however it does not do so automatically. When you first open the app it will show you a walkthrough tour of all of the features, in the first box you see it will ask if you want to set Telescopo as your default. You can also access this from the Settings as well.

The Δ Live Monitoring feature handles automated writes and updates to markdown files and displays the rendered markdown in realtime as updates happen, while keeping your position in the document stable.

Δ Live Monitoring was built primarily for AI assisted and other autonomous workflows that continuously update Markdown files. What’s neat about it is that it can stay in the same approximate position in your Markdown file for you while AI updates the document. It makes it so that you are always looking at the most up to date version of your file. It’s been tested to work with all popular AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, Codex/ChatGPT, Antigravity, and others. It also works with just editing the file via VS Code, Sublime Text, Vim/Neovim, or your editor of choice.
