Paste MCP adds clipboard & memory to Claude and other AI tools

I always find it difficult to feed Claude the right old clipboard item. This might actually fix that. Are there any special entitlements required or does it run continuously?

Uhm, no. Not after the way this company ripped off its original customers. I don't care what features they add. $99 for a lifetime subscription, where there are cheaper, better alternatives like PastePal and Awesome Copy.
what makes PastePal and Awesome Copy better?
They do the same thing that Paste does, but without the exorbitant price tag, and you don't have developers behind it who are arrogant and willing to screw over their original customers. Both alternatives are more realistic in price. Awesome Copy is under $10 for a lifetime fee. They are similar in functionality and performance to Paste. Trust me, you don't want to get involved with Paste. If they were willing to screw over their original customers, I feel bad for people willing to pay for a lifetime license with them.
yeah i was using Paste and then saw the $99 pricetag. i was like hell nah, i'll build that feature into my notes + teleprompter app now i have a clipboard sticky note with one-click copy buttons for 70% less than Paste's lifetime price 😄
This is exactly why I think the interesting part isn’t “AI can read my clipboard,” it’s the permission and review model around it. Clipboard history is sensitive enough that I’d want per-client access, visible retrievals, and a way to see what context was actually used. Cheap matters, but boring trust details matter more here.

who are they?
Their previous users who paid for Paste were pretty much tossed aside rather than grandfathered into their new pricing. There was no indication in the past that Paste wouldn't at least grandfather their paying users into the lifetime version, as all of their paid customers were made to believe they'd only pay once. Once Paste became a subscription model, a ton of people spoke out and felt cheated of their money since they didn't get grandfathered, and I believe they only received a free year(?) of Paste's subscription. Something like that. Their response was honestly pretty nasty to some people with whoever was replying (on Paste's side) having an attitude with passive aggression. They didn't care at all and I doubt they'd care now. I never purchased Paste nor used it, this is what I gathered over time from their previous Reddit posts.

It’s funny that they didn’t think of built-in local models first – who in their right mind would give the cloud access to their clipboard history? XD Besides, steer clear of them – they’ve scammed their users before, or they delete posts if there are too many negative comments, and then repost them after 24 hours. I once saw them offering some measly discount; after 100 comments, most of them negative, they deleted the post, and after 24 hours they reposted practically the same thing, only adding that they were graciously offering 5 lifetime licences for free :)
The comments are shocking. It is so odd that people complain about the Paste team, who are well known as indie developers, and about the subscription cost and the developers’ switch to a subscription model, while applauding Raycast, which offers zero privacy but provides things for free.
I'm a Paste user. Guys, keep scrolling and ignore any BS and drama. You've built a great, polished app. Keep going.
