Searching for an AI Tool
Does anyone have an AI app suggestions. I currently use Kerlig, but I feel its features are too limiting. It's great for small tasks, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for an app that could be triggered with a keyboard shortcut, process questions with context from my computer, and provide answers. Here is a list of apps I have heard of that may solve this problem for me: Alter, Elephas, Fluent, Enconvo, Highlight AI, Rewrite Bar, Kerlig, Bolt AI, and intellibar. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the apps mentioned above, or could offer any new suggestions.

I have settled on Alter as the most useful and practical option. While it has some issues, the team is iterating at high speed, providing weekly updates with new features and bug fixes. The team is highly responsive and attentive to the community. Your requirements fits the bill with Alter, you can tag files or workspaces. I have tried Fluent, Enconvo, and HighlightAI, but they didn't work for me, primarily due to their UX. ------- RewriteBar serves a specific use case and performs it well; however, it is not a comprehensive AI assistant. It excels specifically at rewriting. ----- Let me know if you have specific question regarding the apps I've tried.
I was already leaning toward switching to Alter, so thanks for the encouragement. I think I'll really make an effort to set it up properly and give it a try this weekend. Thanks!

One app nobody mentioned yet is Raycast AI. Already has a keyboard shortcut trigger built in, handles context from files, and if you already use Raycast for launcher stuff it just folds right in.
This was something I considered, and it's implemented quite well. The issue is I couldn't get myself to like Raycast. They're working on several new features for a new version coming out in late April, so I'll reassess then. However, for anyone who already uses Raycast, it's really good.
RewriteBar is excellent for writers. Fluent overlaps some, but does quite a bit more. It may be worth trying.
Enconvo does a lot and I know they have a huge update coming any time now.

Wouldn't a text expander work for this? I use one for somewhat similar stuff. Only difference it inserts phrases/sentences that you pre-write. Not as useful for very specific things, but I use it for customer support and there's a lot of repetitive stuff there.
https://www.mailtoclaude.com/ is a great tool that uses a keyboard shortcut to put an email with its attachments in to Claude automatically (no copy pasting or asking Claude to go find an email)
