Has anyone trained a customer-service chatbot using a helpdesk software?
So we got a mess of old product FAQs, some Google Docs, Notion and our support site. I want to build a smart AI chatbot without our own GPT wrapper. Possible?

I was using Intercom earlier, but I faced some limitations and issues. I migrated my entire intercom helpdesk to YourGPT. The migration was actually very easy. I was able to access every article I had created on Intercom and move them to YourGPT without any headaches, and I’m very happy with the platform so far.
Been there. First thing you gotta do is consolidate your sources (or at least make them indexable). Most AI bots get dumb fast if they can't cleanly crawl your info. The next thing i did was dump my Notion SOPs, product FAQs, and support docs into one knowledge base, then used a chatbot builder that lets you plug in external sources + build flows visually. That also takes care of your 'no wrapper' requirement. If you're curious, I used Crisp chatbot builder.
Our Chatbot app does this and you can whitelabel it - you can use any doc you want to upload, it syncs with GDrive and you can use URLs too as the source docs. Free Trial for 14 days with no card details needed, DM me if you would like me to send you a link? Not sure if links/promotion are allowed here :)

To build a smart AI chatbot for customer service using your existing helpdesk data, start by consolidating your scattered resources, such as FAQs, Google Docs, Notion, and support site content, into a single, well-organized knowledge base. This makes it easier for the chatbot to access and process accurate information. Tools that support external source integration, like Google Drive or website URLs, can simplify this step. Next, choose a chatbot builder that allows you to create visual workflows without needing a custom GPT wrapper. This lets you design conversational paths that feel natural and handle common queries effectively. Look for platforms with AI capabilities that can intelligently parse your data and provide context-aware responses, not just keyword matches. Testing with real customer queries during setup is key to ensuring the bot handles edge cases well. If you want analytics to track performance, pick a solution with built-in reporting. Full disclosure: I work at HappyFox, and our platform offers a robust knowledge base and AI-driven AssistAI that can integrate with your helpdesk data for seamless chatbot functionality. It's worth exploring alongside other options like Crisp or Conpagely to see what fits best. What's your main goal for the chatbot, reducing response times or handling specific query types?
Definitely possible to build an AI chatbot from your existing documents, even if they're scattered across old FAQs, Google Docs, Notion, and your support site - and you don't need your own GPT wrapper for it. Our product is specifically designed for this kind of situation. My AskAI lets you connect and sync knowledge from all those sources (Notion, Google Drive, websites, support docs, etc.) in a few clicks - no technical setup required. Once connected, you can plug the AI agent into your helpdesk platform of choice. We have ready-made integrations for Zendesk (Messenger/chat, Tickets), Freshdesk (Freshdesk integration), Gorgias (Gorgias integration), Intercom (Intercom Messenger), and you can use it on your website or Slack/Microsoft Teams as well. Here are some case studies in case useful. You can book a demo in on our site and I'll help you get setup to try it out if you want?
