As someone with ADHD, I just cannot get myself to do anything consistently, but I have a lot of stuff I need to get done. I’ve tried gamifying apps, and I really think a decent one would help me, but I run into the issue that outside of tasks, there isn’t much to do. Habitica for example, is pretty much just there for logging on and doing dailies. Focumon would be perfect for me, since I love creature collectors (being my favorite genre) but again, there’s no real depth. I go in, study, maybe get a monster. There’s no dependencies either, such as being able to only collect certain creatures with certain tasks. And then there are countless of those ai generated sites that are all clones. I guess I’m looking for something that functions as a game (ideally a creature collector) while also allowing you to gain boosts through doing tasks. Is there anything anyone here uses that fits the mold I’m looking for more?

felt this. most 'gamified' apps just feel like another chore after 2 days lol. i just stick to a dead-simple notion list now. if it's too complex i just ghost it anyway. keeping it minimal is the only way i survive tbh.

The minimal nature is what bores me when it comes to these apps. I’ve seen people gamify notion and it’s probably possible to do a creature collector in it but it seems complicated

Habitica had the opposite issue for me since there wasn’t much to do outside of tasks. Finch (mainly its cancelled successor) had the most promise to me but I found that once you add so many to-dos they start barely effecting you if you complete them, so I’d just do the easy ones to fill up my daily bar and be done.

totally agree. simple is the only way it sticks. gamifying notion sounds cool but the setup alone would kill my focus lol. i'd rather spend that energy actually getting stuff done.

Have you tried the Finch app? I use it for almost 1 year at this point which is way longer than any other to do/tracker thingy. You can also do shared goals with others to be kept accountable. Edit: I tried Habitica in the past, but it confused me most of the time, so it was no fun for me.

You could try Pawchi! You upload your real pet (or any character you want) and it becomes a little digital companion tied to your self care habits/routines. If you disappear for days it gets sad, tired, hungry etc, and taking care of yourself helps take care of it too. I wanted something that felt more emotionally attached/personal than a normal habit tracker.

Hey, I had the same issue, I just couldnt stick to habits no matter what I tried. Pen and paper was overwhelming because I needed habits with weekly/monthly frequencies and it was overwhelming because i had to look at all at once, and no reminders either. Then finally, me and my friend decided to keep each other accountable through text, texting what we did at the end of the day. We kept a shared streak to keep us motivated. That worked tbh and now we have like a 23 day streak for our morning routine.
