help juggling lots of different ideas/projects? (outside of work)

Hello all, Hoping someone can give me some good ideas or pointers, and apologies if this has been asked a million times before - I have searched. Basically I have too much stuff going on: projects I'm working on, DIY to get finished, ideas for things I'm writing, piano pieces to learn to play, random ideas. So often I'll get to the evening/weekend, after work, and I want to move forward on one of these things, but I get stuck on knowing which I should do/prioritise, and it all becomes overwhelming, and all I end up doing is the bare minimum of maintenance tasks (cleaning, food planning and shopping) rather than the things I know I want to do. Part of it is overwhelm. Part of it is feeling like I need to have a schedule so that at little bit of everything gets done, but being paralysed by the pressure of coming up with that perfect schedule. I live alone and work full time. I struggle with my mental health. But I'm feeling a bit more energetic recently and I feel like I want to push forward with these things, but I just get stuck knowing where to start, even on the enjoyable things. What do people use to organise their tasks/schedule them? I have Todoist but I haven't managed to make it work for me. I don't want something insanely complicated, just a bit of order. Thanks in advance and sorry for this wall of text. x

thank you! I like the idea of prioritising by deadlines/joy. 😄
It's probably good to accept that you won't make progress on everything every week. And while you can create the perfect schedule, it's easier to ask yourself: What am I most excited to work on right now? What's causing me the most stress by not getting done? Then pick one or two things and let the others wait, and revisit those two questions every day if you get stuff done, or at least once a week.
that's really helpful - thank you!
thank you!
You are so welcome 😄
what's going on with people posting comments to this and them getting removed? I'm sorry if I've done something incorrect with this post!
it's totally normal to feel overwhelmed with so much on your plate. try breaking things down into smaller tasks and prioritize them by what excites you the most or what has upcoming deadlines. also, maybe set a timer for short sprints on different projects, like 20 mins each, to keep it light and fun. you got this!
I had the same issue with Todoist. It was good at storing everything, but that became part of the problem. I had this huge clean list of projects and still no idea what to actually do next. What helped me was separating “ideas”from “active projects”. I can have 100 ideas, but only 1-2 things are allowed to move forward this week. Everything else goes into a backlog and I’m not allowed to feel guilty about it The hard part isn't capturing everything. It's choosing what not to touch right now
I am the same, always had so many interests and most productivity systems and apps never worked for me. I ended up creating a method that has lots of options for days of low energy and high energy and the main element of using it is checking in with yourself and what you feel like doing. You don't need a to-do list for that, just choosing whatever feels right in the moment while also having a visual overview of all of your interests and basic things you need to do to function. It's called The Flow Shaping Method if you want to look it up.
