HubSpot should get you off Excel pretty quick. If you ever outgrow it and want something built for shops, hit me up.

I run a few mechanic shops and had the same problem with spreadsheets. Contacts getting deleted or overwritten and no way to tie a customer to their vehicle history or past ROs. I ended up building my own thing because everything else was either overkill or wanted $300/mo. It tracks customers, vehicles, repair orders and ties them all together. If you want I can show you what it looks like, just DM me. If you want something off the shelf right now though, even a free CRM like HubSpot would be better than Excel for contact management. At least you get version history so nothing gets lost.

Depends the quality you want and how involved with it you want to be checkout HighLevel CRM. They are more affordable but it’s a trade off in that it might take a little more setup but you get more features out of the box.

I’d move off Excel into something like Airtable or even a lightweight CRM like HubSpot Free since both make it much harder to accidentally lose or overwrite customer records and give you basic search and backup by default.

Try Zoho offering a lot of options for reasonable price
