Currently using TickTick. I love its simple built-in Pomodoro timer, but the calendar sync experience isn’t great for what I want. Any.do has solid two-way Google Calendar sync, but no Pomodoro feature at all. What I am looking for: an app where I can open a calendar event/task and start a Pomodoro session tied directly to it (so time spent maps back to that specific event). Does something like this exist, or am I stuck stitching two apps together? Open to less mainstream options too.

Try Google's "Tasks." You can link it to Calendar and the built-in Pomodoro timer is a bit more sophisticated. Also, don't be afraid of digital chaos. A disorganized mess is often more productive than a perfectly organized empty space.

There’s a built in Pomodoro timer in GCal/GTasks?

I think toggle track integreates with gcal and let you start a pomodoro from there
