Best tool to translate a 100-page Word doc while preserving formatting, tables, and images?

Just to confirm - do you mean translate as in from English to French or translate as in Word Doc to Markdown?

I'm sorry but I don't have any knowledge of that kind of translate. Curious what you find.

In my last job, I was the best tool to do so. The fact is, my colleagues and bosses wrote Word documents with little attention to style, consistency, or proper tooling. Sometimes, they applied raw formatting; other times, they used Word's styles. If they wanted a table, they judiciously pressed the space bar key to insert as much space as they desired, thus creating a pseudo-table. Fixing that mess was my problem, not theirs. Also, translation was my job. So, without knowing how atrocious your Word document is, we can't recommend the best tool.

If it’s a .docx, DeepL’s document translate is probably the first thing I’d try because it keeps layout better than copy/paste. Still run it on a copy and spot-check tables, headers, and page breaks before trusting the whole 100 pages.

Trados Studio is the way to go for conserving formatting. DeepL Pro Subscription could do it as well, but I doubt it will preserve everything perfectly.

I've never worried about layout. I have used Google Translate to do the heavy work, then copied and pasted as "unformatted text" to finish the layout in whatever style the document is setup to be.
