Hi All, We have been huge fans of AvePoint Fly for our email migrations before that, SkyKick. However, as many other posts have mentioned, AvePoint Fly requires an annual subscription, which makes our migration costs insane for a one-time project. We typically charge our customers per mailbox for the move, and with AvePoint's new model the math is not mathing, or we would have to charge double for the project, which our clients won't do. I am hesitant to go back to SkyKick since it was acquired by ConnectWise, and there seems to be a love-hate relationship among folks here toward BitTitan. Is Microsoft's native migration even worth looking at? One of the features we loved about AvePoint was the delta syncs and the automatic DNS setup. It would migrate emails, calendars, contacts, and files (OneDrive/SharePoint and Google Drive). RIP AvePoint. Our upcoming project is about 60 mailboxes + contacts and calendars, not Drive (in this project). What's everyone using?

The migration tools built int M365 work better than any 3rd party I’ve tried. Super simple and just works. Why pay for a 3rd party tool?

Ok but what counts as an “object?” Is it one mailbox + contacts + Calendar + drive is one object bc it is the same user? Or is that 4 objects?
CodeTwo is extremely underrated. It’s been a while since I used most of their products, but I still live and die by their email signature management.
movebot is the way to go, i used it for a 40 mailbox migration last month and it just works. no yearly sub nonsense like avepoint pulling that crap now, you pay per mailbox and that's it the interface feels a bit old but who cares when it does delta syncs and dont break
We started using AvePoint , the annual license is just that, you buy it and its good for 1 year, you dont need a renewing subscription and the price is not that much, its basically the same as a single license was before. For Google Workspace to M365 we almost always use the built in M365 migration tool for this, it works quite well and is well documented, plus it will move calendar, contacts, and there is a way to move the Google Drive data as well.

What we use
Avepoint all the way and it's not even close. Quest might be a contender. They have some nice tools that nobody else really has right now and I was about to use them for an upcoming migration only to learn they don't support Gwork. I will try them later this year, but until then Avepoint without hesitation. It performs great, has great support, and will migrate practically everything, far more than most products out there. you misunderstand the licensing.
for that exact scope (google to 365, mail + contacts + calendar, no drive, ~60 seats) the native admin center migration is honestly fine. done a couple that size and calendars/contacts came over clean, no delta magic like fly but for a one-off you just pre-stage then run a final pass on cutover night. the part nobody warns you about is the google side prep eats more time than the actual migration. the oauth/service account setup, making sure the source accounts arent tripping api limits, and the DNS cutover is all manual since native wont auto-flip it the way fly did. budget that into your per-mailbox math and native still comes out way cheaper than eating avepoints object pricing on a 60 seat one-off.
It doesn't need to be an annual subscription, the license is just good for one year & you set it to not renew. AvePoint FLY SaaS Global Object Migration is $7.50 retail from Pax8. Cheaper than BitTitan.
A few years ago I would have said BitTitan... not so much now. The free MS tools are pretty decent as they're built them out. Recently used Transcend, and it worked pretty good as well.

For 60 mailboxes and no Drive, I’d honestly test Microsoft native first. It’s not as nice as AvePoint/SkyKick, but for Google -> M365 it can migrate mail, contacts and calendars, and you can run it in batches. If the project is only mail + contacts + calendar, paying a big annual tool subscription feels hard to justify. Where native gets annoying is reporting, retries, edge cases, and hand-holding. So if you’re billing a client and need cleaner reports / less babysitting, BitTitan still makes sense. My rough take: under 100 mailboxes, no Drive: try Microsoft native messy tenant, VIP users, lots of calendar risk: BitTitan full Google Drive/Shared Drives/etc: use a proper migration tool I wouldn’t do IMAP-only unless it’s a tiny job and they don’t care about calendar/contacts. Also do a pilot with 2-3 users first. One normal user, one heavy mailbox, one calendar-heavy user. That tells you more than tool marketing pages.
Have you tried the in-built tools of M365? That usually gets it done and since you have <100 mailboxes it should be pretty straightforward.
Disclosure: I work for ShareGate Honestly, for 60 mailboxes, the native admin center is probably fine. That said, I know we're known for SharePoint migrations, but I don't think people know we handle Google-to-Exchange Online migrations, including email, calendars, and contacts. Still the same flat fee and no per mailbox pricing. Now, we don't have automatic DNS setup, so that would need to be handled manually. From the pricing side, I get that it can be tough to justify it for smaller one-off projects, but we're testing some new SMB packaging that might change the math. We have only used Microsoft's native migration for a few simple mailbox-only projects.
