Over the last year we've grown from a handful of clients to managing a few hundred endpoints and tbh what worked when we were smaller is becoming a nightmare. We're juggling multiple tools, patching isn't always consistent, and I feel like we're spending more time maintaining our stack than actually helping clients. The biggest issue recently was discovering several devices that had missed critical updates because of a failed automation rule that nobody noticed. It wasn't a disaster but it was enough of a wake up call that we need something more reliable. I'm desperate for an rmm platform that can handle some stuff as remote monitoring automated patch management or software inventory. Bonus points if it has a clean interface and doesn't make technicians jump through hoops to find basic information. As msps scalability matters

Bump for ninjaone, big fan, covers every os and provides a huge amount of features for the 4 bucks a month I pay per device.
Every single RMM in the market will do what you want. Start doing demos, trials with all the big RMMs. You also will get different responses on r/msp
Ironically, I've only used Kaseya products in K12 environments. I don't know if they have different teams for education customers, but our experiences were always great. Responsive reps, no spammy upsells, and never had billing issues. I'm out of public education and have gone private sector now, but I do miss AutoTask sometimes. I was the primary admin responsible for setup, and I learned that system so easily compared to others I've worked in. I do prefer Ninja over Datto, though.
We use Syncro as well. There are problems with it just like any RMM. But for the price I don't think you can beat it. I haven't had any issues with Windows updates and patching specifically. The scripting was a little wonky for a while with scheduled scripts not running (The skip offline asset logic was getting stuck so that it would just never run that script again if it was offline one time and you had that box checked). But I worked with them directly on that, finally got escalation technicians to work with me directly and they got it fixed. I don't use the ticketing/billing part of it though so I can't speak to that. But I've always been able to get it to do what I need it to do.
I used the ticketing and billing in it and it works great - very happy with the ticketing system. However, we did have the issues of scripts never re-trying when the asset is offline. What was the fix for you?
Acronis is far from the worst rmm. I have tested several rmm tools, acronis almost 3 months. I can't recommend it to anyone. Poor support, very poor license structure, many malfunctions, poor automations. I don't have a good word for it.

Went from ConnectWise to NinjaOne this year. We would have to repair several Connectwise agent every month. We do not have that issue with NinjaOne... and it was never a quick fix. with CW. I do wish NinjaOne had ConnectWise's mature report but with the API I will just make my own. NinjaOne also added Linux desktop support last month.

Our RMM keeps it all on one agent/console, and the patch management specifically backs up the machine before patching and can roll back if a patch breaks something: so a bad patch or missed rule doesn't turn into an actual incident. There's also passive/active device discovery, plus software inventory across all endpoints so you actually know what's installed where. Remote desktop/assistance is built in too, no separate tool or extra license needed. There is a free trial available and I am happy to answer questions if you'll compare it against what you've got now.
I've been using N-central for about 12 years now. During that time I've evaluated and tested most of the major alternatives that get recommended here, including Ninja, Datto, and others. What keeps bringing me back to N-central isn't a single feature, because most mature RMMs can do monitoring, patching, scripting, software inventory, and remote access. The real difference, in my experience, is visibility, automation depth, and scalability. The issue you described — a failed automation rule that nobody noticed — is exactly where an RMM proves its value. For me, N-central has always been less about "can it deploy a patch?" and more about "can I quickly identify the devices (for all Customers) where something didn't go as planned?" After managing MSP environments for years and repeatedly testing competing platforms, I still see clear value in N-central. It scales well, offers powerful automation, strong patch management, detailed software inventory, and gives technicians the operational visibility needed when you're responsible for hundreds or thousands of endpoints. My advice: don't compare RMMs based on feature checklists. Most of them look similar in a demo. Instead, deliberately break a patch deployment or automation workflow during a trial and see which platform makes the failure most obvious. That's usually where you'll find the real difference between RMM products. For us, after 12 years and multiple evaluations of competing solutions, N-central is still the benchmark.
Ninja is an option for sure. I would also check out gorelo.io. I am not using either of these today, but they are both on my radar to potentially switch to. What we have is working, but I feel we could get more out of these other platforms.

Used SolarWinds at my last job. Patching was 100% manual so not them in your case. We used Syncro here for a few years. They have gotten worse and we offboarded last year. We've been on Ninja since Thanksgiving and very happy
We evaluated around 5 different RMM and went with superops. Ninja One would have worked too, but their sales team felt way too pushy and annoying and we are paying quite a bit less now. So far (after 2 months) all works as expected and we did not find flaws which disturb our workflow
Disclosure: I work at Anakage, so factor that in. The tool choice matters less than the failure mode you described. A rule failed and nobody noticed. That's the actual problem. Most RMMs report what they pushed rather than what is genuinely installed on the endpoint, and that gap is where missed patches sit unnoticed for months. When you run trials, don't work through the feature list. Deliberately break a patch job and see whether the dashboard flags it or quietly reports success. That's the capability that would have caught your issue. NinjaOne is the consensus pick here and deservedly so. I would trial two or three and stress test the reporting rather than the feature set
I would lean toward NinjaOne if technician experience is the priority, or Datto RMM if you want a more traditional MSP operations platform with deeper process control. Or you could mix it with Uyuni and CheckMK (and write some scripts to alert/make it visible). What kind of RMM functions do you use the most?

I switched to atera last year when we hit the same wall. The interface is super clean and patch management is reliable so you spend less time checking automation
