Ive been using MyFitnessPal forever but in recent years it doesnt sync well with Samsung Health. It wont sync up exercise calories properly. What do you use for logging calories/macros? What does it do better/worse than Myfitpal? I have a Samsung Z Fold 7. One thing I appreciate about myfitpal is the massive library of food, I am southeast asian so I like that it has a good library of food from my country.

Have you ever tried Lose It or MyNetDiary?
Mynetdiary was one i used a long time ago before myfitpal, but i found i was constantly having to google food info, and would get results from myfitpal, so i switched over. I dont know what the current state of mynetdiary is tho.
Lose It is pretty good. From what I've seen it has a pretty large food library. I use it now after switching from MFP.
Hugely against AI so, ill have to pass.
2 things. Syncing exercise/workouts with Samsung Health accurately. And a large library of food including a lot of non western foods.
Does the food search in MyFitnessPal work for you? The barcode scanner is about all I use it for. Syncing does seem to be a huge problem. I have a Google Fitbit and I can never get the MyFitnessPal nutrition to sync up with the Google Health app.
cronometer is hard to beat. syncs well with a bunch of stuff, much more stuff in the free tier, etc.
What is most important to you in a nutrition app? I've built a few over the years but never released any. I would be interested in knowing what features are most desireable. For my money the MyFitnessPal app's UI is too muddy. It seems to be trying to do everything at once. I prefer simple apps with clear features.
You could give macros.gg a try. It's free, no ads, and cross-platform (web, iOS, android), and has a discord community. It doesn't use a traditional food library like you mentioned though. Instead it allows you to take a picture of your food or describe it via text and a trained AI model will itemize and estimate the macros for you, and our testing has shown it's surprisingly accurate. Of course it also lets you add and save foods manually or via a barcode scanner. Again, totally free and no ads. Full disclosure, I'm the developer. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
I switched from MFP to LoseIt and I've been pretty happy with it!
Looking for the same thing too actually
Cooking Together has a the Plate page which can track and analyze everything you eat via simple text or picture using AI which for me the best because of the simplicity (i'm lazy). full macros, graphs etc. This part of the app the totally free btw.
