Anything more modern-looking than wger for fitness tracking?

I have wger and use it now, but it's UI leaves a lot to be desired, lots of taps required to get to do what I want. Wondering what other people use for fitness tracking! Some things I would like, but willing to compromise as I think it's a big list and there's probably not a perfect app for me: lifting tracker where I can input reps/weight for each exercise, ideally different numbers by default to log warm-up and cooldown sets; wger presently lets me make routines that are like deadlift 3 sets 7x225 but I have to manually click into each set to change the warmup and cooldown sets to lower and it still shows 7x225 even if I really only want 5x225 with a warmup and cooldown. automatic rest timers, once a set is completed, timer starts cardio tracker, nothing fancy just time, speed, modality; I can take or leave GPS tracking for outside runs, would be nice but certainly not necessary nutrition tracking is a plus but I am fine getting a separate app for this local first app for ios would be dope as my gym is in a basement with poor wifi, wger does this well; i can get around this on my own if needed sync with garmin connect or at least allow manual data importing from garmin would be nice but again not required graphs/stats including tracking estimated 1RM over time, volume per workout/week, basically just ways to track progress, would be cool to replicate wger's progress photo tracking modern looking UI. I get jump scared by the white dude in the cover art of the login page by wger every time , looks like it's from a 2003 TV fitness ad

Yeah, as far as I can tell, it's not open source or self-hostable.

Oh yeah my bad, forgot to read the sub 😅

u/LtBigAFOP

Yeah, I am sure I could go that route, would rather not duplicate work though if it's already been done before

Looks really good but I am wary of the license they use. I would like to contribute in the future if I like it and it seems their license gives me no recourse if I contribute and the author decides to take it closed source and begins monetizing it. I prefer free and open source forever, with something like the AGPL. Been burned in the past by similar.

Appreciate the positive feedback. Hope you are enjoying the apps and are assisting you in your daily life. I also now have a recipe manager as well, akin to Mealie/Tandoor called CookTrace. https://github.com/TraceApps/cooktrace Feel free to try that as well. Hoping to continue to add useful features as well as polish what is already there going forward.

The FAQ is yet to be released in the doc site , but here is my answer for the license. It is not to charge selfhosted users, but to have some control if someone uses it for commercial use the project gets benefited. Project is mostly funded personally, so I made that decision a year back when I created. But open to revisit as the project grows. Lets say, I make it closed source tomorrow, anyone can take the code and continue as free for this community. https://github.com/CodeWithCJ/SparkyFitness/blob/main/docs/content/6.faq.md

Looks very dope, just downloaded lifttrace! Thanks for making it.

I've recently been using https://github.com/CodeWithCJ/SparkyFitness and it's pretty good and ticks all of your boxes if you use the app, except for the in-workout rest timers (or I'm missing it somehow). I also wish it integrated with intervals.icu, but that's just me probably.

u/ExceptionOccurred

Integration with Intervals.icu is in progress. Someone added PR and I am yet to merge because it needs some cleanup to fit existing design. Workout/exercise module is getting new birth, stay tuned for next release. Meanwhile, feel free to share your feedback in here to workout features. https://github.com/CodeWithCJ/SparkyFitness/discussions/1692

Have you tried Hevy?

I've been using LiftTrace and NutriTrace, for a lot of what you've mentioned here: https://github.com/TraceApps/lifttrace https://github.com/TraceApps/nutritrace Disclosure that most of my use has been focused on NutriTrace, so not sure of all the ins and outs of LiftTrace, although I have played with it a little. Been using NutriTrace for almost 2 months now, and it's been fantastic. The dev is extremely responsive, to both feature requests and bug reports. Tagging them in here: u/SimplyRavishing1

ryot but somethings paywalled and its also not focused on just lifting and has a bunch of other things. I personally couldn't find a satisfying one so I just use LiftLog (fdroid) and sync its data to my server

u/SimplyRavishing1

As mentioned below LiftTrace and NutriTrace should hit all the points above. Id ask you to give them a try and if there are any features you want incorporated that you think would be useful, please post a feature request in the respect github repo. Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for, whether with my apps or others!.

This thread has introduced me to the idea I can self host what Google fit does for me. I'm sorry I can't contribute, but thank you for informing me this exists

I am using lyftr, and I am loving it!
