Within the YouTube app settings - you can set a time limiter for the shorts section of the app. The time can be set to 0. YT App Settings —> Time Management —> Daily Limits, “shorts feed limit ”, set to 0 minutes.

Another vote for Morphe here!

It might be in a different location in the YouTube settings for your specific account. Google is notorious for A/B testing and seemingly random rollouts of features to different users.

PipePipe FTW! 🤝

It worked thanks. It was really helpful 😄

Yeah It worked for me thanks 😄

Search on reddit for Morphe

I don't have that option in my own options, but i can manage it out from my daughters youtube. Typical google design.

You can block shorts by setting the speed short time to 0, but i would recommend morphe for sponsor block!

amazing, but no settings for 0 minutes. only available 15 minutes :(

search up curbox. its free, open source and can block youtube shorts on both native youtube app(also mods) and website too. Another alternative way is to use a modded youtube app(newpipe, morphe, revanced) and uninstall the original youtube app with adb. To block youtube shorts on your browser, you'll have to uninstall chrome and start using a browser that supports extensions (like firefox). Then use the leechblock extension(its open source)

You can use YouTube REVANCED , rvx or morphe build. They both have patches to skip ads, sponsors and disable shorts.

Pipe pipe has an option to block them and has a block list where you'll never see those channels again

YouTube morphe on mobile devices and SmartTube on the TV. Both of them have options to remove shorts from your home screen, from search results, from channel pages, etc. I have shorts completely disabled across the whole app so they won't show up anywhere

I was hoping to find a better solution but I've switched to using Youtube exclusively in Firefox Mobile. I have ublock origin, sponsor block, and blocktube to get rid of ads, sponsorships, and shorts respectively. If Google was serious about peoples' well being they would give us options to block shorts and default to subscriber videos instead of the algorithmic feed.

Fwiw, NewPipe is worth a look if you mostly use subscriptions/search. No algorithmic Shorts feed is kinda the point.

Patch with morphe and then hide shorts shelf.

Brave does block them flawlessly

Youtube revanced allows you to hide shorts in home or subscription or watch history or to open them with regular player, if you want to go a step further newpipe allows browsing without an account you can import subs from youtube and your feed will consist only of your sub list, newpipe is easier to install it is only an apk but revanced is more advaned requiring you to install the installer and a youtube apk to patch, then patching which is easy. you can follow a tutorial

I use Brave for YouTube. It has a setting in the "Media" section to specifically block YouTube shorts. It also blocks ads.

Use scrollfocus, it blocks shorts completely, so you can still using the rest of YouTube.

Lyth: Block Reels & Shorts, doesn't remove them, but has a feature that blocks them. It's in their premium mode, which is 99 cents per month, but there are for sure plenty of such apps for android. The attention economy crisis is real.

A few genuinely useful routes, depending on how far you want to go: Quickest, no extra app: in the YouTube app, Settings -> General -> Manage time -> set the Shorts limit to 0. It hides the Shorts shelf. YouTube sometimes resets it, so it isn't bulletproof. YouTube-only but thorough: ReVanced / RVX or NewPipe strip Shorts (and ads) from YouTube entirely. Curbox (free, open source, already mentioned here) blocks Shorts on the app and web too. The thing all of those miss: if you doomscroll, it's usually not only YouTube - Instagram Reels gets you the same way. A YouTube-only fix leaves the side door open. Full disclosure, I built a free app for exactly this (ANMYA Focus, on the Play Store): it blocks the short-form feed inside the normal apps - YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels - so you keep using YT/IG normally but the infinite feed is gone, without modding or replacing YouTube. It's free, no paywall. I won't pretend it beats ReVanced for pure YouTube tweaking - it just also covers the cross-app case that trips most people up. Whatever you pick, the real unlock is making the friction outlast the craving in the moment. The fact that you're actively trying to block it already puts you ahead of most people 🙏
