I'd prefer something similar to MDT's easy task sequencing. I'd prefer a solution that: Allows PXE boot (without having to do any extra networking like IP helpers,etc.) Allows deployment of respective driver packs based on the machine it's being deployed to (MDT handled this my looking at the machine model and choosing the respective driver pack) Allows mid and post deployment scripts to be run on the image Allows autonaming of the devices when deploying the image. I'd prefer a solution that: Allows PXE boot (without having to do any extra networking like IP helpers,etc.) PXE boot requires DHCP config/responses. Period. If your network setup isn't completely blind, wide open, and asking to be exploited, that requires allowing that DHCP traffic.
My plex server has been named Fog for the longest time, since its my cloud that is on the ground.
Thanks for mentioning PDQ SmartDeploy. If you're migrating off MDT, SmartDeploy is worth a look. It's purpose built for Windows OS imaging, you create a single image, inject drivers from a library of 1,500+ Platform Packs, and deploy to any hardware model without maintaining model-specific images or a dedicated WDS/MDT server. It supports both on-prem and remote deployments, and getting started is significantly lighter-weight than standing up SCCM. There's a free trial if you want to kick the tires.

Is that finally able to PXE with Secure Boot?
We migrated to DeployR - very similar to MDT and was an pretty easy switch. see r/DeployR for more info. Edit to add - we also used PXE booting with MDT. All I had to do was change to the DeployR boot image. No other configuration was needed as PXE was already setup for MDT.
I'd imagine you could make FOG work for you, it might take some elbow grease.

Our Acronis Snap Deploy shall fill the bill for the most part: It supports PXE booting (although you'll still need helpers for deployments in another subnet) Acronis Universal Deploy feature will help with driver deployment - you can either specify drivers manually for each deployment template or point to a folder with all drivers and it will automatically pick appropriate ones for the hardware. Scripts can run after deployment. For mid deployment scripts - if you could elaborate on use case I will be happy to submit the feedback to PM team for consideration. Machine name and domain membership settings are available in deployment options. Regarding activation it isn't clear what prevent automatic activation of Windows/Office (e.g. via KMS, ADBA, or MAK). Also, with Office365 activation shall occur automatically once users signs in with their account. There is a 30-day trial readily available from the website and I am happy to answer questions if any.

Intune and Autopilot are also available for M365 Business Premium license, not just E3+. Just in case that happens to be what you use.
Quest KACE SDA is nice, but we had to discontinue it due to pricing. It's more for a Dell-only shop but does work with some other manufacturers.
