I'm not on gmail and I have 15 emails to manage. Merci pour votre aide. Si un développeur souhaite créer le client de messagerie idéal, ce serait formidable, et je suis certain de ne pas être le seul !

I love Mimestream. My biggest beef with them was that they didn’t have an iOS app for a while, but it’s currently in beta (and also great). Has a ton of features and is very simple. https://mimestream.com/ Agreed on the disdain for AI tools in email. Just keep it simple.

I'll have a look, as I don't know it. Thanks :)

I use Mimestream, but it is gmail only. The subscription sucks.

Mail is okay, but starts to show its limitations when you have a lot of mail. Thunderbird is much better, but less aesthetically pleasing. The second disadvantage of Mail is that it downloads everything, which can quickly fill the hard disk with hundreds of gigabytes of mail. Clearly, if I want a local client whose e-mails don't go through the client's server, I'm not on Gmail. I'm on Infomaniak for, among other things, and they're due (if I understand correctly) to release an online version with a unified mailbox. At the moment, you have to change boxes, which is quite quick, but still less convenient than a unified box. However, I'm convinced that webmail would be just as effective today, especially as we're lucky enough to have an Internet connection almost everywhere. Thanks for your message. :)

All your e-mail goes through Spark's serversAll your e-mail goes through Spark's servers, and only God (and they) knows what they do with it.

You can just reassign them in System Settings.

No, you cannot use single key shortcuts.

Did you try

It works all well. Nothing mind blowing, but their linux versions are flaky.

The boxes are on different servers :)

Yes, mailMate seems to have always been a reference on the Mac, but there is no iOS version. This is important to me because it allows you to work in the same environment if you wish, and potentially synchronize settings. I find this more pleasant, but it may also be a constraint in the long run. Your list is interesting and it's been a long time since I've seen such a retro site. :) However, there's one thing missing from this list: the confidentiality of customer data. Many of them use their own server to forward our e-mails, rather than simply doing direct synchronization. This is a strong argument for me, as I don't want my e-mails to transit anywhere other than on my server and my machine! Thanks for this list! I use https://alternativeto.net/software/apple-mail/ to find out about alternatives. There are 43 of them here!

Nice app, but the one-off purchase price seems a bit high to me. What's more, the application's privacy section on the App Store is rather worrying. Data linked to you The following data, which may be collected and linked to your identity, may be used for the following purposes: App functionality Purchases Purchase history Contact details E-mail address User content E-mails or SMS User ID User ID Usage data Product interaction I simply won't use an application that has such a policy. Thank you for your proposal.

Thanks for raising this. I understand why the App Store privacy label may look worrying. Orvia has two separate versions. Orvia Classic is a one-time purchase with no cloud AI. Your mail stays on your Mac and connects straight to your email provider. Orvia does not receive your mail. It does not send your mail to any AI service. Classic only connects to Orvia to check your license and app updates. The privacy label you saw applies to the App Store version. Purchase history is used to check subscriptions. Your email address and user ID are only used to restore your account or purchase. Apple groups email and text messages under one label. Orvia does not read your text messages. The label only covers email text sent to cloud AI when a user turns it on for a supported non-Gmail account. Orvia removes private details before sending it. Product use data is only used to track AI limits. Orvia does not sell your mail data, use it for ads, or track you across apps. Privacy Policy: https://orvia.aedc.cc/privacy.html I agree that the difference between Classic and the App Store version is not clear enough. I am reviewing the privacy labels and will explain Classic’s local-only setup more clearly. Thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks, I'll take a look :)

An underground favorite is: MailMate ($50) http://freron.com/ If you don't care for MailMate, there are a ton of other choices listed on this Web page that I maintain: Macintosh Email Software http://www.macattorney.com/mail.html

I've been down this rabbit hole myself. It's tough to find a mail client that stays simple and fast, especially with lots of accounts.\n\nFor what you're describing—server-side search, multi-account inbox, and no third-party servers—the native Apple Mail app is surprisingly solid. It handles IMAP accounts well, and its search hits the server directly if you give it a second. The main downside is it does cache emails locally, which you mentioned you wanted to avoid, but it's generally pretty efficient about it.\n\nAnother option could be something like Mimestream if you're on Gmail, but since you're not, that's out.\n\nHave you tried just using the web interfaces for a while? It's not a native app, but it ticks the boxes for no local storage and server-side search. It's a trade-off for sure, but sometimes it's less frustrating than a native client that's fighting you.\n\nIt's a tough problem. Hope you find something that works for you!

I am excited that there are some competitors emerging. Spark was my go to because I use a Windows machine at work and prefer to have a synced experience. But Spark has issues.

Are all 15 accounts with the same provider, or do you need one inbox across several providers? That seems like the detail that decides whether the upcoming unified inbox solves this.

u/Kind_Example3021

Honestly, I was excited to read this. It’s almost exactly why I built Orvia Mail. I got tired of mail apps pushing AI everywhere, filling the sidebar with stuff, and adding cloud services I never asked for. I just wanted a fast, private Mac app that focuses on email. Orvia Mail works with different mail providers and has a unified inbox. Your mail goes directly between the app and your provider, not through Orvia’s servers. It also doesn’t download your whole mailbox. I’m working on improving server side search too. I even made a separate Classic version with no AI at all and a one-time price. Not every app needs to be a subscription. The Mac app is already on the App Store. The iPhone app is still in beta. I’m the developer, so yes, I’m biased. But your post describes almost exactly what I’ve been trying to build.

I recently saw a podcast about the same ("Email Survival Guide") from AppStories, but since I don't have requirements for mail app now I just passed the ball. Maybe it helps you! What about new Epistles Mail? Looks awesome https://epistles.com/ Ios na mac app available

The only thing I think Apple mail is really missing is the ability to set custom shortcuts. One of the things I really enjoyed about Edison Mail was that I could use Gmail Shortcuts.

I miss newton mail a lot ! The most beautiful email app ever

Newton mail is operating again!!! 😎
