I guess trying will prof how is it will be useful or not, but at least a new usage for this old phone also better than getting a pi device, it is extremely expensive in m country, maybe more expensive than my existing homelab
It would be good learning experience and good use on hardware. Install termux and maybe remove the battery later with mods and it would be a decent setup. With the ram being monopolized pi been out of stock every where.
selling it wont give me more than 1 or 2 USD XD but okay I would take a look for it
I’ll give you $5
I use adguard private dns aleardy on my android phone
yeah it is not reliable and wont be, just I am trying this for fun
For fun, sure! I would try to get a SSH server on the rooted Android first to work more comfortably from your computer connected to it
Yea it can be possible. I don’t think it would be good on WiFi or the battery since you awalys going have it plugged in.
just use the public adguard dns, the custom private one, nextdns or controld
DNS can easily become a single point of failure in a network, I wouldn't use such an unreliable host for it
If you're gonna go through with this, get an OTG adapter with Ethernet and remove your phone's battery
You probably could do it but you shouldn't because of reliability concerns and how important DNS is to networking. You're better off just using something like NextDNS and selling the phone.
