How dare you. Fax is the main communication interface for german administrative offices, even though fax was declared illegal since it is not encrypted afaik

Also here in the US, only medical documents can be legally transmitted via fax.

I host FreeSWITCH for my PBX and fax-to-email/email-to-fax gateway, integrated with Stalwart as the mail server side. It's worked great for me so far.

Do you host a soft PBX already? If not, it isn't worth the hassle in my opinion. Efax, MyFax, or RedFax have plans for as low as $5/month with porting in your own number...

most support T.38, so all you need is fax software for your PC (like FaxTalk ) that supports T.38.

Install and setup open source ICTFax available at github https://github.com/ictinnovations/ictfax. Here you will find installation instructions https://www.ictfax.org/ictfax-installation-guide/ , support inbound / outbound faxing throgh email / internet using g.711 pass-through or T.38. Most VoIP providers provide e-fax service.
