Planning my next business. I know Facebook community groups / Nextdoor are a potential job source, but who has time to scour these groups all day? I assumed there were companies that will "monitor" groups for you and send you alerts, and I've found a few. Essentially you pay them, tell them which groups to monitor for your keywords, and then they text you or email you when someone posts asking for your service. One quote was "starting at" $99 / month. It's a cool idea, but I'm wondering: has anyone actually tried any of these services with success? Specifically looking at home services: HVAC / Garage Doors, etc. Thanks for any real feedback; not selling a service.

Haven't thought of that. Good point. That's why I'm trying to get back into the real trades; all this software / automation stuff is going to be ubiquitous with all the AI tools out there.
Its definitely a thing. People post in local Facebook groups and Nextdoor in my area asking for recommendations all the time.
haven't used any of the tools but I've seen talk of "vibe coding" your own tool like this with claude, if that's your thing
I think my bigger fear would be violating some kind of policy and then being banned for those channels.
As a landlord I’ve never even considered using something like this and I have to hire contractors all the time.
For HVAC / Garage Doors have you looked into performing work on REO or foreclosed properties? Most of the time bank owned (REO) homes need the a/c systems analyzed for efficiency and repairs completed prior to the home being sold. The same goes with foreclosures, but you could be installing a brand new condensor, air handler, duct work, thermostat etc. Look in your local city/county/state area for property preservation companies and pitch your services for A/C and Garage Door service to them.
Property preservation companies are worth chasing regardless of the group-monitoring tools, that's steady recurring work instead of one-off leads you're competing for in a Facebook thread.
