My daily life isn't in the best shape and I need to stop trying to rely on willpower and awareness. I don't need to lock my apps based on usage, I am fully capable of closing them myself. The problem is it takes me too long to realize I've been scrolling too much. I just want an app that alerts me every five minutes I spend on Facebook, X, Reddit, etc. and doesn't let me open them after 3:30 AM. I believe this alone will improve how I spend my time and my sleep quality. But out of the apps I find, only two had the usage pop-up alert feature I'm looking for, one uncustomizable and the other paywalled (I have no money or income). Does anyone know if there's any option for me?

No, thanks. I'm looking for what I described in the post.

Well I admire your desire to get something to help yourself Stay focused. I can put it into my queue of apps to see if I can build something that would help you out. Do you want to be more detailed than your spec? From what I'm reading this is what I would envision: an app that lets you select which apps you want to monitor and you set quotas for each app. For example you want to spend no more than 30 minutes on TikTok per day and then you'd have to allow this app to run in the background. It'll probably wake up every five minutes and ask Android usage stats how long you've been on the app TikTok for and then tell you when you're getting close to your 30-minute quota or whatever number you set. Once you go over that time it should just pop up every five minutes to keep reminding you, "Hey you're five minutes over. Hey you're ten minutes over. Hey you're 15 minutes over," but no blocking. Does that sound about right?

I do not know how to code/program apps

No I'm not relying on ai, I was hoping there was an app made by people who know what they're doing

Well you dont have to use AI though. Right? You see it says in the Google picture I attached.. "You can make an app for free using no-code AI app builders,(comma)drag and drop mobile creators,(comma) OR spreadsheet to app tools." Therefore, I think its listing 3 different options!! But of course, if none sounds appealing I completely get it !

There are a ton of habit apps on f-droid. Here's one for example: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.streak.app

finally, another Zenith user.

Maybe Zenith? It doesn't block the app itself; instead, it asks how long you plan to use it (2, 5, 10 minutes, etc.) and displays a floating timer showing the remaining time. It’s not exactly what you’re looking for, but it might work (?) https://github.com/1372Slash/Zenith

Back in the day we used rubber bands on our hands. xD

Consider deleting your social media. Or maybe it's too much to have multiple social medias. I never had tick tok and I deleted mty Instagram and Facebook; I only have reddit.

There ya friend :) Maybe?

I'd have to go back and search for it but last year I remember a fellow indie dev creating an app that would only unlock your socials after making an embarrassingly loud noise. Something like saying, "I'm a loser," so that everyone around you hears it and you face the embarrassment before picking up the social media habit again

I read something actually today about how you can make your own app now? Correct me if im wrong here lol Because it is a VERY BIG possibility I completely read that whole thing wrong 😆
