I’m looking for a Chrome extension that can do reliable playback for UI testing. The ones I’ve tried break way too easily. If a button moves like two pixels, it stops working. It’s making me want to give up on testing entirely but I know that’s a terrible idea lol What I need is something built for Chromium that semantically understands the DOM, so it knows that the goal is to click the primary CTA in a checkout form rather than click a specific position. Does anyone know of a tool that understands this and won’t break immediately?

Probably too high maintenance if you don't want to do a lot of scripting, but Selenium maybe.
Recorders get brittle when they capture gestures instead of intent. For this use case, I would look for or build around tests that store three things per step: the semantic target: role/name/test id, not coordinates the assertion after the action: what should be true on the page the fallback locator order: accessible role first, stable data attribute second, text only if it is product copy The tool matters, but the bigger fix is adding a tiny testing contract to your UI. Give important controls stable names, add data-testid only where accessibility roles are not enough, and make each recorded step end with an assertion. Otherwise any recorder is guessing from a moving DOM. If this is checkout, I would also avoid recording one long happy-path script. Break it into small flows: cart state, shipping step, payment step, confirmation step. It makes failures much less mysterious.
Testim uses AI-driven element fingerprinting so it targets UI components by their semantic roles instead of screen positions. Or you can try Chrome's built-in DevTools recorder.
If you don't need a lot of complexity, BugBug is good for recordings. It's low code so if you need to get in the weeds on occasion, you can do that.
