Nova Launcher alternative with specific requirements
I know this has been asked multiple times before, but usually the answers just end up being suggestions for good launchers, but never focus on the "alternative to" aspect. I'm looking for a launcher that does - folder support in the app drawer - half grid…
I know this has been asked multiple times before, but usually the answers just end up being suggestions for good launchers, but never focus on the "alternative to" aspect. I'm looking for a launcher that does - folder support in the app drawer - half grid placement on the home screen - double tap to screen lick - search bar below dock - Google feed when swiping to one side No recommendation I came across so far ticked off all those boxes, so I'm hoping someone can help me out here, I don't mind if some of the required features are kept behind a *one time* payment.

30 bucks for a lifetime license is a hefty price though... That's 1/10th of what my phone cost XD
Wait they're still around?! There was a big drama and split in the dev team years ago and I never heard from them again, I honestly through that project was dead. I just looked and it's even on play store apparently?
Nothing will ever measure up to Nova so just keep using it until it breaks. A lot of people will hate on this comment but you all know it's true.
Thanks for the mention! While I work on widget support in the dock, a trick is to manually shift the dock upwards, and pin/float a search widget (Quick Search app's widget is my favorite) in the space below.
Wish Samsung's OneUI Home could be ported because it literally ticks all your boxes without any fixes or work arounds.
SAME ... that s why nova is unique for me. drawer buttom seems old but very useful. also icon swipe up and down ARE FANTASTIC.
Doesn't have the subgrid placement which is like my most used nova feature ;(
It has a lot of ads yes, but I trained it very well and it gives me exactly the news I want to read :D

Yeah, it's what I'm doing for now, but sometimes there's a gem hiding out there that you just don't know exists, so I figured asking every now and then is worth a shot.
That's okay for me because that's how I used nova, but I didn't realize it had this limitation when you turn off the feed on the left side.
I just realized I also need the Google feed on one side and added that to the list of requirements. Thanks very much so far!

Yeah, i swipe up or down on folder icons as shortcuts to other apps and i haven't found any alternative including octopii. I also keep an app drawer button on the home screen as i keep the swipe up gesture as another shortcut.
Smart doesn't feel responsive to me, not sure why
Have you tried a replacement for Google feed or do you use it for a specific reason? I used it for a long time but more ads started creeping to the point I gave up and disabled it then moved to Flipboard.
I think there's no concept of "main" screen. Mine is still set up that way though. Home gesture takes me to the last screen that was in view.
I've had good results with Octopi Launcher. It's been my best Nova replacement and the pro version (which is dirt cheap compared with every other launcher worth mentioning) seems to tick all those boxes except maybe a search bar below dock. You can swipe or tap to search or turn off screen or other things as well. It is in quick, active development and the developer, u/ock88 has been in touch with users. I highly recommend it. For search, I personally love Swiftly switch with a right-hand trigger bar. It allows instant access to my 20 most used apps (or more or less) and the one closest to the trigger is sesame search which is my search bar. Do with that what you will. Good luck.
I just switched to lawnchair today after years on nova. Works perfect with just a slight exception. On nova I used three home screens, the main one in the middle and additional ones on the left and right. In lawnchair you can only add new screens to the right of the main one.
I still haven't found a launcher similar to Nova that lets you add multiple apps from the app drawer to a home screen folder all at once.

Lawnchair checks almost all those requirements. There isn't a half grid placement on the homescreen but you can edit the grid columns and rows so you kinda get the same thing.
