I currently spend most of my money on groceries and gas but I want to start traveling more! I am in nursing program right now but want to set something up for when I’m out making more money. I previously have had the discover it (closed it) and JetBlue plus. But I just want a steady card I can do most other/everyday purchases on. Looked at the Amex gold but idk if the AF is justified and the BCP but not sure how I feel about cash back only? Let me know your thoughts please? (Repost)

I use a Chase Freedom Flex with my CSP. I will probably get the CFU at some point.
Where do you buy your groceries?
Depends, sometimes Publix, Aldi, but bulk of stuff at Sam’s club
Club warehouse usually doesn’t code as grocery for most issuers (including the BCP you were looking at).
Cash back is superior if you don't have a good plan for using points for travel
2% catch all card, 5% category card, and true grocery card. For example: I use my Navy Federal Flagship 2% for catch all; use my More Rewards card for groceries; use my CSP for streaming, dining, travel, and gas (I do not redeem the points I let them sit there until I need it for travel). In January 2027 I will be product changing my Chase Freedom Unlimited to the Chase Freedom Flex Visa.
Amex Gold only makes sense if you can use all (or most of) the credits (Resy, dining, Uber, Dunkin) BCP is a pretty good cashback card, but the BCE might be better if you don’t spend a ton on groceries. You could also get the Capital One Savor for 3x on groceries. Gives you some flexibility later if you want to get the Venture X and transfer the points to airlines or something.
Freedom Unlimited goes with CSP. Earning points in one ecosystem makes the points easier to use.
I do not recommend getting a travel card until you have established actual travel behavior. Otherwise you may get a travel card that (1) loses value over time and (2) is a poor fit for your travel style. Consider AAA Travel Advantage and Bread Rewards. The former offers 5% cash back on gas (capped) and 3% on dining and groceries, and the latter offers 3.75% on dining, gas, and groceries if you have 20+ transactions per billing cycle.
