About me: Early 20’s, college grad, make good money, strong career track, very low expenses. Cross-shopping a few cars in the $25-35k range with under 50k miles: Alfa Romeo Giulia Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2021-2023 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 BMW 330i (G20) Looking for something fun to drive that’s also reliable enough to daily for the next 4–5 years. Which would you choose and why? Obligatory I have owned and driven German vehicles for the last 6 years, I understand the maintenance required and the overall ownership experience. I am not interested in purchasing a Toyota Camry, but I also don’t want to purchase a total POS.

The Giulia drives like nothing else in that list, it’s absurdly good. The reliability reputation is overblown for the 2020+ models, especially if you avoid the early QV stuff. Just make sure it’s got a good service history and you’ll be fine GLA 45 is a riot but the ride is punishing if your roads are trash, and the interior feels a step below the others for the money. 330i is the safe pick, does everything well, just a bit sterile Stelvio handles like a Giulia on stilts but if you don’t need the space I’d skip it

I would love to go that route. Unfortunately I live in the midwest and daily driving a camaro isn’t the best move.

What’s the dealer network like? I feel like it’ll be so hard to fix something that goes wrong,

I have an Alfa dealer 5 minutes from my job fortunately. The dealer network is pretty sparse though.

But you'd entertain a Guilia or a 330i? Those are both RWD sedans of a similar size, including ground clearance.

Objectively a great car but in my market there’s only 3 LCI 540s in my price range, and the lowest mileage example is 70k miles. With the 330 there’s plenty of examples with much lower mileage.

As I’m narrowing things down I agree. I love the looks of the giulia and the way it drives is engaging in a way the other cars aren’t. The one I’m looking at is a 2023 Estrema in volcano black which is a shockingly beautiful color. The GLA 45 is a monster though. More practical, 3.9s 0-60, and the one I’m looking at is loaded. It’s almost the ideal hot hatch. Depreciation will also probably be lower at this stage since it’s an AMG. Hard decision lol.

My friend daily drives on in NJ during the winter, youll be alright. Its gonna do equal to any of those other sports cars you listed above, none of them have ground clearance

Have you looked at 540i?

This. With the b58. But the 330 is also a beast in the class

As a man in my early 20s answering id go with the AMG if you live somewhere with good road quality. Just one more car i think you should consider is a Camaro SS or LT V8, the driving dynamics on the Alpha chassis cars are unmatched compared to the rest of the cars you chose. For like 30k you get 400hp of V8 and RWD, with some bolt ons you get over 500hp easy in them, they will punish any of those 4 cars on a track

Alfa Giulia 2.0T, as reliable as the germans (no matter what german fans say), more fun, better value for money

For me it will be between the gla and guilia something from 2024 above because as i heard the giulia in the last years did really improve qnd get it in the red color it look so beautiful

I would run away from any N series engine. Giulia is next league car. 2.0 is reliable, V6 is quite complex engine (to service). Killer looks, epic to drive. No idea on merc
