CFNA Firestone card I had for a couple years.. Keeps declining everywhere now and I've had it.

I been using my CFNA card as my bread and butter wallet every single day since i've been issued it. Had a minor issue in the past (which i've written about here I'm sure) and then nothing since. For the month of July, I actually maxed it out for once. No big deal; I'm not a reckless spender... Just means I need to pay the $5000 limit. I have money so that's fine. *goes to pay $5000 - only owed ~$4150.* "Ahh, I see. So it's a $5000 limit based on the cumulative total balance, REGARDLESS of bill cycle. That's fine. I hit said limit so it won't allow me to pass it. *Pays ~$4150*. My new balance after a few days is now ~$1,xxx. Great. Meaning I have $3k or so to comfortably charge going forward. Nope. Card has been getting declined for a week now. Even though both my bank AND CFNA reflect that I both paid the maxed out balance and have money available to spend again. What the hell is going on? The only possible suspect in my mind is that my billing statement for July did not come out yet because it's not perfectly on the 1st of each month, it's a few days later in the month - therefore they are holding my account in limbo despite no longer being at $5k/$5k total balance because they need to produce the statement for July first? (and ironically they still make the due date of any balance strictly the 1st. Go figure). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I've had it. this is stupid. I have 1st Hawaiian Bank. I'd go with them as it seems far easier to deal with in-house and I really don't go into debt for anything. I just need a credit card that doesn't cost me any money to have and will do everything I'd otherwise be doing with my debit card instead. The only thing is I don't believe they have any such card with no weird monthly/yearly fee... I'm only using a credit card because this is a country that basically "makes you" if you ever wanna borrow money for a house or a car and not get denied or reamed. No other reason

It sounds like credit cycling to me. If you maxed it, you should wait to use it again. Your 5k is 5k per statement cycle. Using more than that is considered risky behavior and would get you flagged, maybe even get your card cancelled. If you have another card I'd use that. Using all 5k in one statement and trying to use more looks dangerous from the outside. You need to have more cards/higher limits with that kind of spend and going over it this way is risky biz. I get this is your main card, but clearly they aren't giving you the limit you need and you should get at least another card with spend like this.
Well the card is set up to decline anything after $5000 / $5000 available credit. which it did. The thing is, I paid it (as stated, it was actually 4100ish but yes because it just adds up this statement range and last statement range together, it just added them together instead of giving me a true 5000. I'm guessing the refresh rate is very slow) Actually the limit is fine. I don't net much more than this per month so going with a higher limit isn't very smart anyways. It just happened that this month I end up spending a lot. Which is OK. The thing that's not ok is that the card has been sitting konked out for a week after it already said I had more room in there again. They shouldn't show us a usable balance like that if they don't mean it. I definitely want another card. But not for the purpose of having more rope to hang myself with accidentally; just want one because I am fed up with CFNA and this system is lousy. The reason I don't use debit cards as a main is simply because people need credit in this day and age and the scammers and helicopter helicopters of the world would want nothing more than to have access to un-reversible funds (such as a debit card) and I find this extra layer of protection necessary. I'd like nothing more than for CFNA to cancel my account. It would just make things easier because I was reading up about how they make cancelling them a headache as well.
up till now, I never had an issue with it. I don't get anything from it. but it doesn't cost me anything either. Usually I just pay my way through the month for everything. Pay my bills on time in full, rinse and repeat month after month. I don't really need all those flyer miles or whatever for $150 a year or whatever they do to get people to buy a more premium credit card. I just don't wanna get involved in all those asterisks. I like my life nice and easy. But yes I agree, since the card is now giving me friction; it's a bad card.
Just get a 2% back card and call it a day. They are available with no fee and you will get a flat 2% back on your entire year's spend. If you are spending ~4k a month you would be getting closer to 1k back a year, vs getting some crap Firestone points at gas stations only that are probably adding up to less than $50 a year
But then they should just leave it pending then, shouldn't they? not let it through. Because it's fully fully processed on my checking account that I paid them. And it's fully fully processed on my credit card account that I have the ACH payment logged and locked in and the current balance reads "$1,xxx of $5000 available credit used". ^ they should just not say this until they're ready for me to spend more. shouldn't they
Holy hell that is a terrible card to be using as your catch-all
Usually making a payment immediately increases your credit limit (it always decreases your balance immediately), but banks can delay it if they don't trust you. This is because of the risk that a payment could "bounce" or be reversed.
