Tips on getting velcro baby to sleep in crib?

I’m having a hard time getting my 8 month old to sleep on her own. Aside from her being a velcro baby, she also uses me as a pacifier, refusing to use a plastic one. She currently co-sleeps in our bed and we have to be holding her for naps. She can sleep without me, like if my husband holds her she’s fine. But even when he tries to put her down she wakes immediately and starts crying. Like, banshee cries. We’re just struggling to find a solution. It’s a bit frustrating because she’s our second baby and we had no issues with sleep from our first. But he did use a pacifier so I’m sure that helped. Anyone who’s gone through something like this, what did you do or how did you manage? If we have to live like this for now will she eventually grow out of it? I love the baby cuddles but I miss having the bed to ourselves and nap time with my first is when I got stuff done around the house. I can’t do that now.. I know we should have started trying sooner, and we have here and there, but we’ve just been so exhausted. Like there’s always a million things to do and it felt easier at the time to let her just sleep how she does. Any advice is welcome. TYIA

Put a twin mattress on the floor, lie down with her to nurse her to sleep, and then move away after that.
So have her in a floor bed rather than a crib? I can’t believe I hadn’t considered that.
Look into one of those big floor beds with a frame around it. So it's like a giant crib.
Not me almost crying. Thank you for your kind words 💕 Someone else mentioned the floor bed, I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that. I will immediately be trying that. I don’t mind if she needs me to fall asleep, as long as I can eventually leave afterwards haha
I used to think I’d be fine with it but it’s just not for me. Not long term at least. How old were they when they stopped sleeping in your bed? If you don’t mind me asking.
I do like to the ease of pulling baby to latch and then going back to sleep. I’m glad I’m a reader because at least it’s SOMETHING to do when I’m stuck in bed.
Oh, I feel this so much. My oldest was exactly this: velcro baby and would wake up screaming the second she touched a mattress. Two things that genuinely saved us: The carrier. Naps in a wrap or carrier meant she slept and I could actually move around the house, make lunch, sit behind my laptop or something. It's not "sleeping on her own" but it gave me my hands back, which was honestly the thing I was most desperate for. A floor bed. I'd lie down next to her, nurse her to sleep, and then sneak away. No transfer, no lifting, no waking up mid-air. That was the game changer for us, the crib transfer was always the moment it fell apart, so we just removed that step. Once she was asleep I could (sometimes) slip out, and if she woke I could lie back down without a whole production. Honest answer on the "will she grow out of it" part: usually the contact-nap phase does pass but my velcro baby is almost 8 now and still doesn't like falling asleep alone. She's just wired that way. Meanwhile my second was completely different and sleeps on her own no problem, she actually prefers it. What I want to say: please drop the "we should have started sooner" guilt. You did nothing wrong, you’re a great parent and this is just the way your child is wired.
My baby is like this. She’s almost a year and rarely Dominguez to sneak away when she naps. And only for a few minutes before she wakes up. It’s annoying, it is. But we have accepted it and hope it‘ll be different soon. She does sleep in the carrier outside with dad too. I try to enjoy the forced breaks in bed, it’s my phone and news time. At night we put her down on a pillow so she can nurse to sleep on my lap on the couch, and I can watch tv or read when she’s fast asleep. And while this is highly impractical, all of it, she sleeps well and I’m thankful for that. I never need to get up at night, just pull her over to latch and fall back asleep.
Maybe not the answer you are looking for but our 2nd was I just kept them in bed with me. Now they sleep with their sibling 🤷♀️
