Outer Tie Rod Stud spinning. Bolt stripped.
I tried applying pressure to the tie rod. Its still spinning. The stud is stripped the bolt is stripped. Is there some sort of tool that is like bolt extractors but a wrench so I can get a bigger vice to hold the stud? The tie rod is at the top of the knuckle…
I tried applying pressure to the tie rod. Its still spinning. The stud is stripped the bolt is stripped. Is there some sort of tool that is like bolt extractors but a wrench so I can get a bigger vice to hold the stud? The tie rod is at the top of the knuckle not the bottom. I can't put a jack under it.

I have a new outer tie rod, inner, lower ball joints coming. My only concern is alignment. Obviously ill need an alignment but will it be so bad i can't drive to the garage to have it aligned? Im new to all of this. I did the driver side knuckle fine. Passenger side is going me trouble. I live in my car so now im living in the woods until I get it figured out.
That sucks, been there with a ball joint stud that just laughed at my pry bar. If you've got room, grab the stud with some vice grips right below the knuckle, the kind with the curved jaw can sometimes bite into the stripped part just enough. Crank em down so tight you think you'll snap the handle, then hit the nut with an impact. The shock usually does more than a slow pull. If that fails and you're replacing the tie rod anyway, cut the nut off from the top with a cutoff wheel. Just carve a slice into it without nicking the knuckle and it'll split. Quick and dirty but it works when you're out of patience
