msi gaming trio 5070ti. everything said 5080 is 15%-30% better even if its the cheapest model

yep , 5080 is definitely better , but i recommend you to read that palit 5080 reviews , maybe its cooling is bad , maybe its power connector is having problem and other problems, beacuse we know that msi trio is a really perfect model but i don't know anything about this palit 5080 model.

im planning to use deepcool pq850g 850W psu with 7800x3d. should i upgrade the psu?

u/gulagmerchant

ive always been a msi fan therefore going for the gaming trio. msi gaming trio 5070ti is the same price as palit 5080 gamingpro in my country

Should be all you need, doing an undervolt is still a good option. I have an 850 watt PSU on my 5070 ti and with an undervolt I got it to drop nearly 70 watts while increasing the FPS by a few frames. The fans never spin up like they used to and it has been rock solid.

But you'll break tradition for the 5080? I mean if you have the money, get the 5080 and don't waste your money on an overpriced 5070ti. I'm curious to know how much cheaper the cheapest 5070ti is.

im using deepcool 850W should it be upgraded?

u/gulagmerchant

alright smartass lmao its my first pc ofcourse ill ask. id even get a 5090 and 9800x3d just to show u why have IQ when i have money.

u/gulagmerchant

i see i see! i decided to go with ZOTAC 5080 😊

it's a really rare situation when 5070 ti and 5080 are the same price , you said msi 5070 ti , what model of msi? maybe it's a premium model of 5070 ti vs a base model of 5080. generally, 5080 is absolutely better but go and read the reviews for that specific 5080 model and see if there's a youtube video for it.

I think it's highly dependent on where you live. Where I live the cheapest 5070Ti was less than USD$100 cheaper than the cheapest 5080 when I looked around on the weekend. 5080s have gone up a bit since then though (and the place I bought mine from has dropped their 5070Ti prices).

You can get a better GPU for the same price as the weaker GPU, so it's a bit obvious. 5080 A 5070ti costing as much as a 5080 is ridiculous though. Assuming you're US, the cheapest 5070ti is $300 cheaper than the cheapest 5080. Not sure what 5070ti model you're looking at, but it's not worth $300 more. All 5070ti's will give you the same performance. Same with all 5080s.

u/MrFartyBottom

If you can get a 5080 for the same price then it is a no brainer as long as your PSU an handle it. If you are worried about power consumption put a good undervolt on it.

u/althaz

5080 is a vastly better option if prices are the same (I just made this almost exact same decision, btw, was <$100 USD extra for the 5080 = I guess I'm getting a 5080).

u/According_Spare7788

5080 duh. People hate it for the price, but i got it too for not much than a 5070 ti. 15% more money for 15% more performance is ok.

u/Visible-Swim6616

5080 every day if considering only the performance. If there's other considerations like your PSU, physical constraints etc then consider those instead.

Cheapest is not equal to bad quality. I've used Palit RTX 4070 S since launch and it hasn't failed me. You just cannot overclock it as much as other more expensive brands out there, but it's a nvidia card, overclocking isn't really its good suit. If you're comparing 5070 Ti to 5080, then get Palit 5080 since raw power, it's still better.

Is this really a question?

Damn IQ is getting low on this site.
