For drives that aren't super popular retail models there really isn't a way to guess reliability from public information, and on the scale of buying just one of them it doesn't really matter anyway, failures are mostly just random luck.
I asked because Toshiba is considered somewhat popular but the thing is that's a 9 years old model lol
Brand name really doesn't make a predictable difference either.
id go for a used WD black or samsung if you can find one. Should be plenty on FB marketplace used for $30-60. Samsung PM9A1 512gb would be my pick.
Toshiba invented flash storage, and the XG4 is a high-end model with DRAM cache. Such an OEM drive is likely to have been used in an office PC/laptop with not very much usage. There is no reason not to choose it.
