I use American Express National Bank.

Ally is fine. Sofi is fine. Marcus is fine. They're all fine. Don't overthink this. You are not tied to a bank for life. If you don't like the one you choose, just switch and move your money.

Wouldn't you also want something that can allow you to take money out in Canada without much fees? HYSA alone won't give you much options without coupling with Wise or something. Also are you keeping US citizenship? Some banks or CU won't service foreign persons.

Apparently both SoFI and Ally are potentially great options but i wouldent know which is better I plan to likely have a fidelity and vanguard account and ideally id split my savings to auto invest in things like etfs or indexes.... so hm
