Recently bought a MSI 5080 Gaming Trio and currently considering my options for Power Supplies. I have not been in the loop on the melting connector situation for over 2 years and realised there were also 5080s reported with this issue! I ideally would like to find a PSU & solution that suits my needs and also mitigates the risk of melting connectors. The Wireview pro2 seems like a good monitoring solution but it sounds like a bit of a minefield generally! I appreciate the risk is reduced when it comes to 5080s but is still somewhat of a risk. Keen to hear people's recommendations and thoughts, thank you!

If you already have a good psu with sufficient wattage, wireview pro2 (you need to manually set up power shutoff iirc) or corsair thermalprotect are good options. If you are in need of a psu upgrade anyway, go with msi A1000PLS for per-pin ocp (pricier options are the 1200W variant, and filthy expensive AI-TS units).

Thanks for the quick response. I currently have sufficient wattage but is aging so I am toping to get a new Power Supply along with either the Wireview Pro2 or the Corsair ThermalProtect as they seem to be the best options I have found also. I had read up about MSI Power Supplies but I have heard they aren't as well reviewed as other competitors, although their new PSU that includes protection against the melting connector issue.

Aris/hwbusters have reviews of the new units with excellent recommendations. The only real downside is that they are relatively pricey. A more reliable and reputable psus with protections would be corsair ones and seasonic ones, but they are really slow with bringing them to the market. There's also coolermaster mwe gold v4, but no proper testing as of yet (but they are notorious for sending the unit to the youtuber Daniel Owen, so at least they are confident lol).
