[Routine Help] What Korean skincare routine or products should I use?

A little backstory: I have had acne problems since I was 13, and I was on Accutane for 6 months back in 2020 and it really improved my skin. Before those meds, my skin was veeery oily, and then naturally it got dry while on Accutane and then got back to oily bit not as oily as it was. Since then, my face has been great, I get acne here and there but it is nothing compared to what it used to be (hence why I'm not sure what products or labels on products should I look for). I am looking for something that will help me maintain my skin and maybe give me that nice, glowing effect (I don't know if that's possible if my skin is leaning towards oily?). CeraVe cleanser has been okay, but I'm not sure what serum or cream to use to achieve that and make my pores look less visible ( I know it's not possible to completely "close" them, just want to make them appear smaller)? I'd like to try some Korean skincare products because lot of my friends have been satisfied with it, and it has really helped them. We don't however have the same skin types, so I can't use the same products. Thanks! x

I don't drink and I don't really break out whem I'm on my period, but some triggers would be stress and unhealthy food (too much at the time)

Since your skin is generally stable now, and your goal is to maintain it while adding a natural glow and making your pores look less noticeable, I’d recommend two products. For a serum, I’d suggest the Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum. It contains propolis and niacinamide, which can help the skin look more hydrated and smooth, while also being a reasonable option for oily-leaning skin with concerns about excess sebum and visible pores. For a moisturizer, I’d recommend the PURITO Oat-In Calming Gel Cream. It contains 77% oat seed water and has a lightweight gel texture, so it can provide hydration without feeling as heavy as a traditional cream. It may also be helpful when your skin feels sensitive or irritated. Rather than starting both products at the same time, I’d add them one at a time and see how your skin responds.

It’s such a relief that your skin has stabilized so well since your Accutane days! By the way, do those occasional breakouts tend to have a specific trigger—like your period, alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, or stress? If you could let me know, it might help me guide you a bit better…

Do you have a good moisturizer and sunscreen yet? If not I would start there with Korean products since you’re interested in trying them

Like Western skincare, Korean skincare is also trial and error, even if you have the same skin type. I ended up moving away from Korean skincare and now have a mix of Japanese, Korean, and Western skincare products. For plumping effect, look for any hydrating toner (which Western skincare now has filled this niche and can compare with AB products) as well as keeping them clear with occasional BHA.
