Hey all, I need some help. Family car — 1 toddler, another kid on the way Mostly city driving + short trips, maybe 15k km/year total + road trips around Europe mostly Balkans + ocasional weekend trips up to ~500km I'm thinking mostly for something which isn't fancy so no Audi,bmw, Mercedes etc I don't want it to look rich. maintainable easily by most mechanics so not like niche models enough boot space Easily maintain 130 Speed at 2000/2500 rpm for long trips so at least 100-120 CV. Only thing I can think of is Skoda Octavia wagon in general I prefer wagon or cross not really SUV fan. Better petrol/hybrid as half kilometers will be in city but Im open to diesel if >2017 Thanks all for budget I haven't decided yet I am not in a hurry but need a good value for money for my necessities even more expensive if needed

skoda octavia wagon is pretty much the answer for what you described, my brother in law has one and it just eats highway kilometers without any drama. for balkans roads maybe look at the scout version with the plastic cladding, little extra clearance helps on those mountain passes
And is there a reason the octavia over a passat or the superb?
I updated the post a bit cause it looked terrible and added some extra info. I was thinking of the Skoda Octavia as I see a lot of taxi drivers and I trust them. Good interior + big boot. Does he have diesel or petrol? We have some strict diesel policies here where I live so if diesel I should look at euro 6 at least so 2017 or later
Only used certified I would consider in this market. VAG have good options Passat, golf variant and I also like ford like Focus which has a good wagon option
I came here to suggest exactly this. I had a Passat Wagon (in Canada), and my parents are on their second Octavia Wagon (in Europe). Hard to beat this car for what OP needs.
Passat looks very good as well. Wolksvagen I accept them but they are a bit in too good looks side in terms of I don't want to look rich and I think the maintenance might be bit more expensive
Dacia Striker
I believe it's a little less expensive while being essentially the same car.
Dacia Jogger is quite big and cheap. More expensive but also better at everything, you have the vw touran. Old school I'll admit, but I have one and love it as much as one can love a family car. Lots of space, highly flexible (good 3rd row, or enormous boot space), way more fuel efficient than SUVs, and the petrol 1.5 tsi engine is really great. I have the dsg one and it's actually surprisingly dynamic (again, for a family car). As I needed the occasional 3rd row, for me it was the best option. That said if you're confident you'll never need a 3rd row, I guess a wagon is also interesting, probably more fuel efficient and drives a bit better (Touran is already quite good, but well when going fast in curves you do feel it's a bit high and not made for that)
Wh, not corolla wagon? Similar price, similar power, similar trunk space, but you get more reliable car.
New or used? Opel or Ford if it isn’t new. New? Add VAG in to the mix and see what dealers have to offer.
