I own a sales company for certain equipment. As well all know, aside customer service - marketing is absolutely everything. The guys dominating the market all have one thing in common. Excellent marketing and ads. Well I don’t want to sit here knowing a key piece of business and not utilize it. Is a small online marketing class worth anything? I don’t want to hire out I don’t think. I’m sure it’s expensive and I think it’s a great tool to be knowledgeable on for any of my business. I want to be able to excel at Google ads, Facebook ads, etc. Let me know if I’m completely wrong or should be looking in a different direction? I just know ads and marketing are extremely important in my business.

Because to most people, AI is the big scary monster that's going to take their job. Claude is basically running my entire business - I'm gaining more clients, spending less money.

I don't think you're wrong at all. Learning the basics yourself is worth it, even if you eventually hire someone. It'll help you understand what's working and stop you from wasting money on bad campaigns. Just don't get stuck taking courses forever...learn the basics, then start running small campaigns and learn from the results.
Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Claude could help any business get the basics down (before using paid) and understand what the competition is doing. Yes, eventually it would help to have some expert advice. But if you are just starting out... Claude is fantastic.

We all start somewhere, and it's good your willing to learn. where to start? Honestly this subreddit has some really interesting people and comments and also YouTube videos on basic marketing principles of course. I have two cents that can help you - think of an ideal customer profile (ICP) for your product or whatever it is. Try and nail (not literally) this customer profile, their pain, want or needs etc. How do you help and what makes you unique? If you can make and ICP profile and map it out- it makes things a lot easier. Ad text, written content etc. Also, I really like Rory Sutherlands videos on YouTube. He's got an advertisement background but connects human psychology to how we market products - it's not as boring as it sounds, he's a colourful character. Try and find some of his stuff online, at the very least it should get your creative juices flowing! PM if you need any help!
Marketing, as any other profession, needs to be taken from basics and learned. From the ground up. Find reputable classes and really dig them. The fundamentals are much more important than what people say online.
How much time do you have to learn? You're focused on a single part of marketing with ads, which should come after a deep understanding of your product and its positioning. Like anything in marketing, paid ads are conceptually easy but difficult to do well. If you have the time to dig into courses, yes, you can do it. It's more than just placing ads, though. Be prepared to learn how to set up proper tracking (otherwise it'll fail), copywriting techniques beyond AI, and the nuances of each network. You'll probably take some lumps along the way even if you dedicate a lot of time to it, but we all do. Good luck on whichever path you choose!
