I recently launched my first independent e-commerce brand, XS//SASS, and I’m trying to be realistic about where to focus my limited time and marketing budget. It’s a premium apparel brand with an interactive fictional experience built around it. Certain designs can be scanned to generate randomized character profiles, and customers receive credentials that unlock a deeper hidden section of the site after purchasing. The products, website, and fulfillment process are ready, but I’m starting from essentially zero audience. I don’t want to throw money at ads before I understand what actually connects with people. For anyone who has launched a niche or unusual consumer brand: Do you have any advice for building traffic from basically nothing on a very small budget? What channels or approaches have actually worked for you? I’d appreciate honest feedback, especially from anyone who has marketed a product that takes a little explanation before people understand it.
