Hi there, I’m traveling from India to US to generate relevant business leads via networking at relevant events. I’m planning to attend events such as Dreamforce, AI conference, etc. in SF. I don’t have a booth at any of these events, what would you recommend me is the best way to generate leads if one doesn’t have a booth? Another issue is that Dreamforce doesn’t share the list of attendees so I can’t even pre book meetings prior to Dreamforce. Also, does attending events hosted on Luma app or other general tech events helpful to generate leads?

Trade shows a are my main prospecting channel for my SaaS product. If you do not have a booth, the best strategy is to treat the event as a meeting surface. Pre-booking matters more than wandering the floor, so I would target speakers or sponsors if you can get their contacts, anyone posting publicly that they are attending. For lead gen, the smaller side events can be better than the headline conference. Luma events and niche meetups are often easier for real conversations because people show up with a reason to talk, while huge shows tend to be noisy unless you already have warm intros. If you are flying in from India, I would spend more time on who you can credibly meet before the trip. One another problem I encounter all the time is that the booths are mostly manned by the sales reps who have no interest in buying your solution, they have their own quota to meet. If you end up talking to the sales representative, do not pitch, but ask them for a name of whoever in their company is responsible for whatever your product is solving.
