What's the Best Air Purifier for Pets you've actually used? Looking for recommendations

I use Coway Airmega 450, and yes it's a bit of overkill for my space but it handles it all, has a nice design, and runs quiet. I vacuum the filter once or twice a month, and replace entirely once a year. The unit is $499 Amazon, or $450 on Sylvane, which specializes in air filters and has a lot of products you can check out for comparison. For dust, grit, pet hair, allergens, etc., I consider overkill a good thing. The replacement filters run about $100, which is pricey, but breathing is kind of a priority.

If you live in the us this is the way.

Blue air is not junk whatsoever. The university of Toronto tested a bunch of air purifiers in 2020 and blue air - by far - performed the best.

also getting rugs for floors (so the dust and hair sticks to something i can vacuum instead of going airborne) and a robot vacuum that runs every night for maintenance helps sooo much

Would recommend considering a Corsi–Rosenthal box, I got a kit from cleanairkits.com it uses off the shelf filters that you can replace yourself, much more affordable long term vs needing to buy expensive proprietary filters.

My Winix air purifiers (I have 3 different models, don’t mind to get into specifics if useful to someone) have been a godsend as someone who has asthma and two cats (one is half Maine coon). I wouldn’t buy any other brand.

We use the Levoit 300 in every room of our house. They’re going strong for three years now.

Air purifiers won’t do much for pet hair. That’s too heavy to be sucked in from across the room. You’ll need to upgrade your vacuum if you want to address that. Ask r/vacuumcleaners but Miele and Sebo are the gold standard (corded and bagged) and will last you 20+ years For pet dander, check out Alen air purifiers. As far as I know they are the only BIFL purifier because they give you a lifetime warranty as long as you buy genuine alen filters. They are overbuilt tanks and whisper quiet. Levoit and Blueair are both junk - avoid.

My blurair broke and I had no way to repair the control button so I've moved on to coway and its a better design imo

My family and I have got multiple levoit cores and a Dyson hot and cold air purifier, I prefer the levoits. I across my family we have 3 large and 9 mini’s all have been working daily for 2+ years no issues.

I've been using an airdog x5 for a decade and I still love it. Fantastic filter and it's clean-able. you can replace the carbon filter if/when you want but really just for smells, not necessary the rest is all permanent. it doesnt catch pet hair but it definitely reduces dander. My fiance is wildly allergic to cats, so we have a pet door to the hallway to the bedrooms and they live in the living room. we have hard wood floors, a leather couch, and basically vacuum and wipe everything 2x a week, and run that filter 24/7 and we also feed that allergy reducing food, and we use paco and pepper litter, which doesn't cover smell well but has 0 dust. I give the cats a bath about once a month to reduce dander as well. Her allergies are pretty minimal with this set up as long as she doesn't bury her face in teh cat, but you know she's still very reactive to cats, because if she's even around another person who has cats out to lunch or at work, her eyes will start weeping and she'll start sneezing. so we've managed to really reduce our symptoms at home with this routine. It's a bit much but the cats are 14 so in 5 years I'm sure it wont be an issue anymore

2 dogs and a cat. I have 3 of those levoit ones. Works amazingly well. Don’t have to dust and there’s no more dust bunnies of cat hair collecting in the corners anymore.

coway airmega has been good for pet dander in my experience, filters last a decent while even with two dogs shedding constantly. levoit core is fine too but youll be replacing filters more often for pet-heavy households, its just not built for that kind of load imo. before dropping $500 on any of these though check couponpicked, these purifiers go on sale way more than people realize and the msrp is basically fake at this point

i have been using a germ guardian hepa air purifier for 13 years and it JUST kicked the bucket on me. i was severely allergic to one of my pets and would wake up with my eyes swollen shut. it made a world of a difference for me and was under $100.

Levoit Core 300 in our bedroom with the pet odors filter works great for all the night time doggy farts. I prefer Blueair units but their carbon odor filtering is just not robust enough for the puppy emissions.

I personally own a smaller Winix model and would absolutely buy it again. Checking the scientific data about filtration for each model is really useful, I can't seem to find the link right now so hopefully someone posts it

Blueair is the shit. I have the 411i max and I fricken love that thing. So good for dust, litter smell, and generally helping my cat have fewer asthma attacks in my apartment.

Oransi TrueCarbon. Energy efficient, simple, and a lot of bang for you buck in terms of CADR. I have allergies and recently moved next to a smoker. It did what my Honeywell HPA200 struggled with by eliminating odor within the hour.
