I had an HSA for a few years but for 2026 switched health insurance plans so I now have an FSA. It seems the FSA and HSA are not only on the same account/broker, but the debit card didn't even change. I assume that spending from that card will pull from the FSA balance first and then after will pull from the HSA balance. Is that correct? It must not be because in practice I'm seeing charges that are seemingly randomly applied to either the HSA or FSA and I don't really understand it.

You should get a new account (even if it's the same login) and new card, I would reach out to the broker. I've never heard of the two sharing a card. You can always pay medical expenses with your own credit/debit card, then reimburse yourself from whichever account. Just keep your receipts

Sorry, it's two different financial accounts, just through the same account (as far as broker, login, etc.). Definitely the same card though

I would ask the broker, say you want different cards. But again the reimbursement method makes it a non-issue

You cannot comingle those accounts so you need to tell the broker to give you separate cards or just open an HSA at Fidelity and move the HSA there. Your HSA funds don't have to be used at all so you can invest the funds and hold receipts for later reimbursement, but your FSA funds have to by the end of the year so you don't want them to screw up removing money from the wrong account.
