Ya’ll, I’m like desperate for some skin care advice. This might be a long one so I apologize…. So I have been having acne flairs for a few years now as I’m in my 20s and my skin is changing. I have a lot of under the skin bumps that make my skin very textured. These bumps either turn into white heads or (what I think are) blind pimples. My skin is also very dry, so I can get flaky patches, and pimples take forever to heal (scabbing over/dry patches). I went to a dermatologist and was told to use a SA cleanser in the morning, a benzoyl peroxide wash at night followed by differin gel. On top of this, I was told to use a topical lotion thing (clindamycin), but could stop using as my skin would clear. Last time my dermatologist told me I could stop using the benzoyl peroxide wash once my skin clears but that I would FOREVER have to use the differin gel. (Specific products I use: CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser, Differin 5% benzoyl peroxide wash, differin adapalene gel 0.1%). I also try to use hydrating, non-conglomerate lotions and sunscreens. Every time I go to the dermatologist, I get told the same routine. I do it, my skin gets better for a bit, and then I have some type of flair up again. Again, I get a lot of, what I think are closed comedones and maybe some blind pimples??? Honestly, I’m just completely lost on what to do. I tend to have drier skin, so this routine does a number on me. I’ve also seen some posts saying not to use SA cleansers with differin gel? At this point, I’d take any and all advice. If you took the time to read all this, you’re amazing. Thank u!!

Hey! Thanks for responding. Maybe I should have added this to my posts but I’ve been trying the skin care routine my dermatologist has said for a few years now. Also my flare ups are quite bad.
Are you 100% consistent with it? Is there anyway you can improve other things like stress level or diet?
Sounds like what your derm says is the right thing and works. Everyone has flair ups. Just keep doing it.
