Is there a good space saving dehumidifier option out there? Either in ceiling or in wall placement?

I'm looking to put a dehumidifier in my basement that has an auto pump feature, but the area it needs to go in is a bedroom. I figured there would be a space saving one so that it doesn't need to sit in the middle of the room taking up space but am not readily finding any options like this. Would love one that could sit easily in the drop ceiling or a wall cavity. Anyone have any recommendations or am I out of luck?

The problem is that it needs a place for an intake vent and an exhaust vent. If it's enclosed in a wall/ceiling it'll have to be ducted somehow. You can buy a whole home dehumidifier that uses your existing furnace fan & ducts. You can also separately duct a whole home dehumidifier. Even though it's called "whole home" you can just run ducts in your basement if you'd like.
Yeah I know that to be the case. I just figured since they make standalone units that don't need to be exhausted outside that they could potentially come up with a way to make one insertable into a ceiling or wall, and have the intake and exhaust on opposite sides of the machine or something. Totally get what you're saying though. Definitely a bummer that something like that doesn't really exist. Our basement isn't ducted and I'm not willing to invest that much in it right now. Thanks for your help!
Just get a mini split and diy it. Pretty cheap and easy and you get ac/heating to boot
There’s a waste line from the bathroom above the room I want to install it in that I can connect the condensate pump line to in the ceiling from the dehumidifier easily. I can’t fit a full size dehumidifier in the ceiling though, I’d need a slim one. I kind of figured they’d make a 24x24” cassette style one like that do with mini splits that would just sit right in the existing ceiling grid but I guess not.
Are there any 'whole home' units that would be small enough and quiet enough to serve a smaller space? I have sort of the same issue in that my mini-split doesn't quite handle dehumidifcation enough in the summer and I don't like the lost space and noise of a floor/movable dehumidifier.
I don't think there's any reason you couldn't put it above a drop ceiling, as long as it was secure and had reasonable air circulation. Humidity will generally level itself over time, so if you have a few drop-ceiling tiles that are grates I don't see it being an issue in terms of it being up there and working up there. There IS one huge issue though, which is that you either need to run a drain from a dehumidifier (which I doubt will be an option above a drop ceiling) or manually empty it every day or so, which seems like it'd be a giant pain in the ass up above head height. I guess if you were really set on it you could connect a hose to the drain plug with a valve on the end, loop it up above the ceiling normally, then pull it down to fill a bucket sporadically? Feels unlikely to be worth it, honestly.
