I have applied for every financial aid thing that my state offers (NY), I also go to a state school. Even while doing this I still have to pay about 7000 a semester out of pocket to attend. This is also the best cost per attendance I have so transferring is out of the question. The only other option is to drop out and work but then I would have to reapply and get into my major again that has a 5% acceptance rate. I have applied for jobs and I plan to apply to be an RA next year but in the meantime is there anyway to pay this off this year? I am also open to outsourcing loans (I already got everything I could from state and federal). Any advice would be appreciated. Some things to keep in mind: - Yes I am a dependent but I also have to pay for it by myself - I have like 1000 dollars in savings that would not even make a dent and I need for necessities - I am looking for jobs and trying transfer to a location closer to my school - I am applying to scholarships

Did you walk into the university finance office in person and tell them you're struggling to pay? They have a great deal of flexibility to change terms so you can finish your degree, if they feel you might quit due to financial hardship.
It doesnt cover housing though so I can attend I'll just be homeless:(
It doesnt cover housing sadly :(
Do you have any recommendations?
I will try to email them but when I call about TAP or financial aid they are really unhelpful and aggressive. I'll try again though thank you!
You'll probably have to get a private student loan for the housing then. 7,000 in NY you would need around 8,000 Gross considering taxes and at 17/HR that's around 475 hours or 12x40 hour weeks. Can you do 20 hour weeks while studying (or find jobs that pay more than 17/HR. where you will be?) You might also be able to talk with the school and "take a leave" for 1 year and work your ass off for 1 year without having to reapply. See if that's an option.
No, I didn't say email or call. Walk in, in person. People treat you way differently in person, especially when it comes to making exceptions to rules. When you're asking for a special exception, you want to be a smiling face in front of them, not an email on their screen. You need to be a real human. There is a very real difference in how successful you can be when you arrive in person vs email or phone.
My tuition is covered, room and board isn’t 🫠. This is also the best offer i got when i applied to school and i have reasons on why i can’t stay home. Edit: Forgot to say that last year my entire cost was covered and i only had like 2k per year to pay then it changed. I already signed the agreement so I can’t even live off campus or anything which would be like 800 a month or less. I will be doing this next year and I have a job but Id probably get another one.
I will be applying but as you said it’s me versus the entire campus who also wants a position lol
Didn't ny have the excelsior scholarship for last dollar tuition?
Why are you averse to walking into financial aid and talking to them? Your school financial aid office would be able to answer this and all questions you have and lay out the options. Look up their hours and walk in there and talk to someone.
Does your family make more than $125k? Because otherwise Excelsior Scholarship should cover you? https://hesc.ny.gov/find-aid/nys-grants-scholarships/excelsior-scholarship-program
You can apply for private student loans.
Sounds like op is looking to be a residential student. Even with full tap, full Pell and full federal loan isn’t us not enough to pay the ~ 25k minimum for a 5 year school. The reality is you cannot afford the residential experience and need a school where you can commute and live at home If your household makes under 125k did you apply for excelsior? It will cover tuition only but it us s last payer meaning it will pay the balance on your tuition after applying tap snd pell.
So you are saying for op to take on approximately 50k in debt on top of his stafford loan so it could dorm at suny. It will be him/ her and everyone else trying to get a RA position
