Is a 10gb 3080 still okay for 1440p

For current and future AAA games at ultra settings you will 100% hit that 10gb vram limit. If you are ok running medium-high for most things that is a great card for 1440p gaming.

Yes. the 3080 is probably the best value used card out there right now and it can still 100% perform in pretty much any game at 1440p with the right settings.

I’d say so if you want ultra settings and/or plan to use dlss. The TI will give you more vram to work with natively. If you just want good fps at reasonable settings, the 3080 base is more than enough

No problem. I'm over here on my old 2080 Super (8gb) playing at a custom resolution of 1620p on my 4K 32" MiniLED Odyssey Neo G7 monitor (5070TI is under warranty repair process), with mostly medium settings and dlss performance or ultra performance on newer AAA games - and surprisingly I'm pretty satisfied, it's more than a playable experience lol. Especially if AMD framegen is supported alongside DLSS upscaling (like Assassin's Creed 4 Resynced) Considering I was just used to gaming at full 4K and mostly High settings on the 5070TI.

Sorry, that's just what my experience has taught me. Maybe save for longer to get a more up to date card?

Get Lossless Scaling, there's also a non-steam version on their website if you prefer that. The frame gen can provide better performance than DLSS upscaling, but you have control over how much frame gen you get so if you crank it up, it'll definitely look like shit lol. You'll have to do some experimenting to find the amount that gives the performance you want without it looking bad. Also if you get a motherboard that has atleast 2 PCIe x8 slots (look it up if you don't know what that is) then you can use their dual GPU frame gen by getting something like a GTX 1660 and it improves the performance even more than single card frame gen. The GTX 1660 is just an example, it'll work with any low end card but the better the secondary card is, the better the frame gen performance will be so you don't want to use something like an old GTX 950. Obviously the dual GPU thing is only if needed, that might be something you can do in a few years if the single card frame gen isn't enough.

My 8gb 3070ti is still been ok for 1440p provided (with dlss)

I’d look for a 3080ti at minimum. If you don’t plan on anything brand new, you can swing a 3080 no problem

Your system is close to mine. Only difference is gpu brand and I have a 7700x. If you’re wanting pure raster performance then I’d say it’s not a bad choice. If you’re cool with using dlss then it’s a good choice. If you’re cool with use mods for frame gen then it’s a great choice. I use dlss in all games and in some games I use a frame gen mod or Loseless scaling. With that setup I’m playing at 1440p 60-120fps with mostly everything maxed or high. I definitely watch videos for optimization settings as well. Now this would probably be alot easier if I just spent the money on a new card. I don’t think I can justify 5070ti money because I know the prices are bullshit. I’m fine with what I have. 4-5 years from now would make this a 9-10 year old card. At that point I’d guess 1440p is out of the question but I could be wrong. I can say that I won’t be using this card at that point though

Should be fine if you turn down some settings especially textures. And if using DLSS upscaling, you might want to stick to the 4.0 presets (like K) instead of the newer 4.5 presets (L and M), due to the extra performance loss on Nvidia cards older than the 40xxx series.

Good card for now, but it won't last you 5 years at 1440p, it is already 5 years old! At medium settings you may be able to achieve this, but you don't know what new games will require in the future. Imo, buy knowing you'll upgrade in 2 years.

One thing I learned watching Hardware Unboxed 5060 Ti 8GB vs 5060 Ti 16GB comparison is that most games these days like to hover around 9 - 10.5GB VRAM usage at 1440P so you should be OK, might have to lower some minor settings here and there depending on game but it wont be nearly as bad vs. having to deal with 8GB at 1440P (This was with maxed out settings in each game tested).

I’m using mine at 4k and have yet to have a major problem. I just don’t run native ultra/max. High with DLSS is perfectly fine for me. Latest game I played was 007.

I still use my 3080 for halo campaing evolve at 4k wit medium settings and dlss. I get 60fps 90% of the time.
