Hi guys, sorry if it's the wrong sub, didn't know where to post. After moving to another house, I noticed my CPU is heating up very fast. I changed Thermal paste, and it didn't help. I consulted ChatGPT, and was told that the problem was with the AIO pump, because both tubes are cold even when CPU temperature reaches 90C, 10 minutes after startup. The pump shows 7100 rpm in BIOS, so I guess the pump itself is working? Could something have happened during the moving? I bought the entire PC second-hand, two years ago. Everything worked absolutely fine. Now I'm at a loss for what to do. Also in case I need to replace, will an air cooler suffice for my Core i5 10400, considering it's cheaper?

Assuming your aio actually broke, then just replace it, not worth fixing it You can get a air cooler tower style, something like thermalright assassin x refined se 120mm or se 214xt should be more than enough.
How can I know if it's not fixable though? I don't have a clue about how such hardware works, I just see that the bios reports 7000+ rpm, so I assume the pump is fine. Could problems with the, idk, liquid(?) be fixed?

AIOs aren't designed to be repaired.

I took apart one that started malfunctioning, I also put it back together in working condition. Everything is the issue: seals, screw tension, potential leaks, electric component fails, how to fill it up correctly? That is a struggle in itself. You also need a liquid that doesn't turn into a corroding mess. Can it be done? Yes. Should you? No. I am not letting that one near a PC ever again, but I did have a use case for it trying something out without ruining good gear.
first and most importantly while the problem you are describing DOES sound like an AIO failure, chatgpt is not a very reliable source for PC troubleshooting (I know from firsthand experience). I'm not trying to be rude at all, I'm just stating the risk of using AI for fixing your PC. The first thing I'd try to do is see if you can get an RMA under warranty. if you can't get a replacement for free, then I'd just stick to an air cooler if you don't mind the looks. honestly practically any single tower cooler would work like the thermal right assassin X refined or assassin king SE would do, but if you want to get a dual tower air cooler for whatever reason then I'd get a thermalright phantom spirit 120 SE or peerless assassin 120 SE, whatever is cheaper.
The pump is not running at over 7000 RPM. That reading alone means something is wrong. Combined with the overheating issue it suggests there's actually something wrong with the pump and it's not simply a faulty reading. And the issue is not that it wouldn't be possible for someone to theoretically fix that, but that it would cost more than simply buying a new cooler. Especially when for your CPU even the <$40 Thermalright Phantom Spirits and Peerless Assassins would be more than enough.
