I recently inherited some vintage floor lamps that take T10 300W halogen bulbs (double-sided r7s base type). Does anyone have any idea if there are color changing smart bulbs developed for this type of base? The bulbs are about 4.5 inches long and use spring loads in the lamp to secure them. I’m not finding anything that would work, but I figured I’d check in with others.

There won't be. Best bet is to remove the existing socket and replace it with a smart bulb that exists or just stick to original bulbs

Well as it seems one of them may need to be rewired anyway, maybe I’ll just go the whole way and replace the socket. Or maybe I’ll let it be its glorious self and forgo any drastic modifications. Either way, my suspicions have been confirmed! Thanks.

They make LED replacement bulbs but no smart options. Best you can do is a put them on a smart plug. Come to think of it if it’s the style I remember there may be an outside shot you could figure out how to add a smart relay in the base.
